I went through Jugner as well. All I can say is stick to the road and take detours around goblins and lions. Don't recall that I had any problems, but that may have been due to luck. Sorry if it doesn't help any

The road was CRAWLING with funguars.
I'll try it next time, though, I was above the road, that's where the cat got me.

I had sneak and invis at 20 and that's how I got to Jeuno. I would send a message to one of the WHM when you are on and see if someone can give you a hand. Other than that, I would suggest trying to find out what monsters are in the zones you will be running through and which ones agg. Give the agg-ers a wide berth and you should be fine.
Oh and don't run from Windy.

If I recall properly, funguars aren't aggressive. I believe the only aggressive things were the gobs and the lions. But it's been a while, so I could be wrong.

Turns out you were right. The road was the way to go, and hte funguars aren't aggressive.
I am still stinging from when I died on the "Rescue Drill" from the funguars in the crevice, was feeling a bit gunshy of running a guantlet of fungus
Ah well, now I have a choc license, time to see some remote corners of the world...
Can you talk to NPC's on the choco? I am thinking the "Davoi Report" mission and hte "weapons order" quest would be doable if I could talk to NPC's and interact with ??? while mounted.

No, you can't unfortunately . One of the things that irked me when I tried to explore too. You have to dismount (and lose your chocobo) if you wish to talk to an NPC you come across . Or any type of interaction for that matter. Good luck though.

Oh well.
They are cool critters though. And cheaper than teleports.
