Well the first episode was up last night. Who saw it and what did you all think? I had the opportunity to watch the old V series as there was a marathon on the SyFy network. I really enjoyed the first episode of this new series. I hope that it can keep this pace and intrigue going throughout the season.

All I remember from this show was people ripping others' faces off to reveal lizards. Not a good show for very young children, heh.

I too watched the original series run this past weekend on the SciFi channel. It is profound how well it has held up over the past 26 years. Still brought back memories from my childhood of watching it at night during 83. As for the new series, I liked it. Not quite true to the original but it looked like it held enough bits that referenced the original storyline that it could do really well. The only shame is that we'll get to see the first four episodes then be forced to wait until the Winter Olympics are over before the series can continue. All in all, good stuff.

I thought the pace was ponderous and there was damn little intrigue. They kinda jumped right to the aliens=lizards=bad and hit you over the head with "foreshadowing" at every oppurtunity.

We're gonna give it one more episode before calling it, but I was kinda bored though most of it.

I have to admit I was also confused by the pacing. It really felt like a premiere that wanted to be a dual/triple episode setup, but was forced to be fit into a single episode. I really hope that the pacing doesn't keep at it's breakneck pace or else I really feel character development is really going to suffer. People will be in and out, or dead, before we care they were even part of the story.

There is room though to go great places. In someways getting the good guys/bad guys out of the way in the beginning allows them to focus on how humanity will overcome them.

The show is rolling along nicely. I have high hopes for it.

Let us hope that it won't go the way the previous one did... a cliffhanger that was never resolved! The cliffhanger is the reason I only bought the movies on DVD, not the series. I believe I was in grade 7 or 8 when the original came out. :)

Myself & my son are enjoying this new show quite a bit. :thumb:

Which cliffhanger did they not resolve in the original series? I believe they closed off all the storylines from the original to the Final Battle series.

The weekly TV series they had after the movies. IIRC, the child that was a union of both human & alien origin was boarding a ship to visit the queen of the visitors. Show never made it to the next season.

Oh yeah. I completely forgotten about the series that started after the end of the Final Battle. I think they ran out of ratings or writers and just sort of killed the show off.

There is some real good plot elements in place, but I have to scoff at ABC's choice to play four episodes then wait till march to show the rest.. The could of just debuted in march and no one would of been the wiser. :(

I think their whole reasoning behind that was to see how the ratings would be and if it would be worth spending the time and money with continuing the series. If it was a bust, no real loss. If it took off, which it seems it has, then they have the next 3 months to begin shooting again while the Winter Olympics are airing.

Apologies for bumping the thread but does anyone know when this will be shown in the UK? (first 4 eps & onwards when it continues).

I spotted Elizabeth Mitchell in a tv mag last month which grabbed my attention since I thought it may have been Lost related but it was infact about "V". Anyway I had a read and liked the sound of it and remember it saying it was gonna be shown over here soon and I thought I'd check it out when the time comes. Only I can't remember whether it gave a specific month or whatever, and I can't remember which channel it said it would be shown on either which doesn't help. I've just had a look to see if we still have whichever mag I saw it in but we must have got rid of it and I've not had much luck with a google search either tbh.
Any ideas? Hope I haven't missed it already lol. :)

March 30th according to the ABC web site. Sucks that we have to wait like that, but at least they are saying it's coming back on. :)

Decided to watch the first 4 eps of this last week instead of waiting.
I never saw the original series but this definitely has potential, really enjoyed those 4 eps so I'll look forward to watching the rest when they're shown over here. Hopefully the gap between US/UK airings will be just a few days.

[Edit]Apparently, V will start airing in the UK on Tue 13th April at 10pm on Sci Fi. For the US it's Tue 30th March on ABC as Slacker stated!.

I've been following this aswell. A bit mixed on it. It has some potential, but I think alot of the issues in it are dealt with better in other series, especially Battlestar Galatica.

I have the episodes recorded on my DVR, but I haven't been watching them. Hell, I still have 3 episodes of LOST to catch up with before Sunday's series finale.

I didn't realise this weeks ep of V was the finale until after I'd watched it and was really looking forward to the next ep lol. Cliffhanger was pretty great ^^
I'm glad they've decided to pick this up for a second season, though admittedly very disappointed that FlashForward hasn't due to viewing figures. Had potential to go further :/

S2 is apparently scheduled for midseason next year so they can run it as uninterrupted as possible like they have done with Lost, give them more time to work on it too which will hopefully lead to it being even better.

Mechanus wrote:Hell, I still have 3 episodes of LOST to catch up with before Sunday's series finale.
Catch up!. ;)
Don't know if you know but the series finale is being simultaneously aired in other countries around the world too I read today. Sky1 over here are still airing it on the 28th as planned but it'll be airing 5am Monday morning for us too. So us crazy die hards will be able to watch it at the same time as the west coast etc :D. One big Lost world event, so cool. I had wished they'd do this so there was no risk of coming across spoilers in the gap between airings but I never expected it to happen, I'm kinda ecstatic tonight!.

Yeah, I agree on both.... V has had an excellent run so far & I look forward to it's 2nd season premiere & I'm disappointed in Flash Forward getting axed. :(

That is very neat. I guess with this series finale being 2 hours long and the sheer amount of anticipation from millions of people wanting to talk about it after it ends...well, I can see why they want to aire this simultaneously. I know here in the States there is going to be 3 alternate endings shown on the Jimmy Kimmel show afterwards. I'll be interested in seeing just what sort of alternates there are.

I just realized the other day when I saw a commercial for it that this show is on ABC and not on SyFy. This means that I can actually watch it, so I will likely get a hold of Season 1 and then try to keep up to date from here on out.
