Amnesia: The Dark Descent
PC or Mac, low system specs, 10 hours of gameplay, $20 (1110), direct d/l or Steam.

Heard it was supposed to be very Lovecraftian and was just reading some reviews (it was released earlier this month). I couldn't find a single bad review anywhere. I'll probably be picking the full game up this week.

Here's some review blurbs so you can see what I'm talking about. Titles are links to full reviews.

Bit-tech.com
My shoulders hurt. They111ve been hurting a lot the last few days as, while playing Frictional111s Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I find my body contorting into an increasingly uncomfortable position. I start off sat straight, but before I know it my shoulders are higher than my ears, my elbows are off the table and out to the side and I111ve gnawed my bottom lip raw.

Telegraph (UK)
Pure, unadulterated, terror.

IGN
It's a tale of terror that's menacing and disturbing from the very first moments, and only amplifies the further you progress.

PC Gamer
OK, I111m proper scared. It was utterly, panicinducingly horrible.

Gamerlimit.com
I usually don111t scare too easy, but when playing this game I found myself gritting my teeth and breaking out into cold sweats every time I had to venture into the darkness.

And possibly the ultimate video review from Zero Punctuation, he actually liked something:

Getting some good feedback over at the Goner. I played some of the demo. Big fan of Silent Hill games, but about 15-20 minutes into this the mailman dropped a delivery at the door and I nearly shit myself.

The scariest game for me that I have ever played was Elder Scrolls Daggerfall. It's because I didn't know if I was gonna have my PC crash that day or not. ;p

Wow, watched the trailer/demo video on Steam. I have to say it does look good. Very nice atmosphere, sounds, and ambiance. I love a good game that causes you to jump at noises and second guess your actions. Might consider picking it up once I've spent some time with Civ V.

lol. And same, love the Silent Hill games as well. Especially 1 & 2 which are two of the best games I've ever played. Akira Yamaoka did an incredible job composing for those, music is just perfect :)

As for Amnesia. Ava was showing me this a couple of days ago actually. Trailer and reviews look very impressive but whether it will scare me/make me jump or not I'll have to see. Very few games & movies manage to which is a shame, takes a good'en so mebbe this will be the first in a long time!. Will definitely be checking this out soon. :thumb:
