Laptop advice

Been asked to look around at laptops for someone and need a bit of advice myself so thought I'd ask here!

She's looking for something that's:
  • Light and portable
  • For use with Word, Excel, PowerPoint & the internet
  • Storage for photos
  • Not too small a screen
Pretty basic needs really. Cheap as possible, but not something that's going to fall apart or be unreliable.

Buying in the UK so links from Ebuyer, Scan, Amazon UK etc would be appreciated.
Any particular models you guys would recommend? :)

I've always been happy with the gear I got from PC Specialist who let you customise your laptop build. Not the cheapest but the components and build are top notch.

If its just for general internet/office work then perhaps something like this:. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebook ... III-14-LE/

I've actually gotten my last few custom desktop builds from them :)

I bought my friend an Asus x551m for $200 from walmart about an year ago for work. The thing has a large screen, keyboard with number pad, optical drive and a 500gb hard drive. It doesn't have any fancy graphics processor or anything but it is fantastic for an affordable functional laptop for work and streaming entertainment.

She was thinking around £300 max iirc, though I recommended looking around at Black Friday deals too :thumb:
