For Frak's sake, Patrick really is Immortal. *sigh*. Yeah, I think they should of left him dead, or seemingly dead. It's cheapened the overall feel of things. I also felt they dealt with the Louise thing a little too quickly when she killed the crazy throne chick. In fact that entire episode was a misstep in my opinion. But the last ep of the season was pretty cool. I did like the part where he busted out Exia to whup Ribbon's ass. I always dug Exia. I plan on snaggin that 1/60 super cheap HG model of Exia at some point..

If you zoomed in on the scene of Patrick exploding, you could make out a white exhaust among all the pink ones. We knew he ejected.

Still would of been nice if he had died.

No, actually, the nice thing is that he married Kati and got his happy ending, which not many did.

Sir, we are at an impasse. The whole thing I have taken away from the series is that there has been many a loss on both sides, and by having him survive like that cheapens that. A mediocre pilot, constantly surviving unrealistic odds like that is bound to run out of luck. Law of Averages dictates it to be so. You're not gonna convince me that this was a good thing. Ever.

Yes. That is exactly why it's so great. Because it beats that law of averages and goes against everything that "should" happen. He's been getting his ass handed to him since ep1 (he's the first one to fight Setsuna), and he made it through to the final ep with the best ending possible.

How are you not getting this.

BD, it's called an opinion. Much like you and I disagree on GW. I think it's a very bad series, I am in the minority on this, I get that, it still doesn't change my opinion. I feel having him survive cheapened things for me. Again, my opinion. You and I are not gonna agree on everything. If we did, the universe would implode. :)

I think it all depends on how the director(s) saw this through. What they were aiming for.

Had G00 been a dark, serious anime then he probably would've stayed dead. But since it's Bandai and the majority of viewers are shounen, it didn't surprise me. Does this cheapen it? Depends how "I" would have wanted the direction to go (you could call it "my vision" or opinion).

Overall I thought the plot was intriguing at times, but never hooked me enough that I actually posted on boards on what I think next week's episode will bring. The whole "each Gundam specialized in something" kept the combat "fair" in the first season, but eventually devolved again into One Shall Rule Them All. The whole GN drive kamikazes felt really cheap and thrown in for fan service. There was no build up to that, it just "happened" (along with alot of things in the last 2 eps).

Still looking forward to the 2010 movie though. I like my moving hi-rez wallpapers :D

Yeah that was another issue I had. The Kamikaze's didn't feel like they belonged at all. But rather a cheap plot device to cause a ridiculous amount of damage to the cast. It really could of used one more episode to flesh a few things out.

I was almost right :) For five minutes or so I was convinced the Meisters had all died heh.

General impressions though, I can't complain. I highly enjoyed the ending just as I've highly enjoyed the whole series. Patrick, whilst out of place, I can let go as he wasn't a major character. Like I said to BD last night though, if Ptolomy had blown up then the next scene had been Sumeragi marrying Billy I'd have been annoyed.

This being my first show, I admittedly had quite a few fears about the ending - it being rushed, Ribbons being taken completely OOC to become a "Final Boss" steriotype, etc. Thankfully, none of them were justified - and I am glad they're taking the movie route to answer the remaining questions rather than trying to cram them into the finale for no good reason.

Really, I don't really think I could have got a better show for my anime introduction. 00 exactly fits what I look for in TV, and has maintained an escalating standard that so few shows can keep up nowadays. It's certainly killed a few of my presumptions about anime as a whole, though it has set a bar for me that I have little doubt not much else will reach as I explore the genre.

Next stop for me, SEED and Code Geass, but roll on 2010 really.
"Perhaps this is what I have always wished for since that day. The loss and destruction of all. That's right, one must destroy before creating. In that case, if my conscience becomes a hindrance to me, then I will simply erase it. I have no other choice but to move forward....therefore!" - Lelouch vi Britannia/Zero, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Forever an eXile and proud of it!

I really can't recommend you watching SEED Destiny. In fact, pretend it doesn't exist. You will thank me for it later. Trust me.

Yeah, I only gave him SEED.

It's because I don't know what this "SEED Destiny" is. I don't recall ever seeing it in my life.

Second time view through of Destiny, I can see how the director(s)/story writers wanted it to go. It made for some good stuff, but then Goku came back with SSJ3 and Spirit Bombed the moon... Again.
