The new AMD CPUs come out in 4 days time, while early benchmarks suggest they only just match/slightly beat intels last generation they should be at a competitive price.
And if you can hold on for a bit then Intels is putting out Ivybridge in 5-6 months time which will once again set the bar that much higher.

Outside of that the performance difference Intel has at the moment is just massive, hopefully Bulldozer will offer Sandybridge power for a little less cash but if not I cant recommend anything but the i5 2500k. Right in the middle of the price/performance sweet spot at the moment.

I can tell you from experience that the 3.2 Thuban can handle any game out there right now. My friend had me build a PC for him, and I used the six core Thuban because of it's price and reviews. It's honestly amazing. Everything else looks good, although I prefer Corsair cases, as the airflow and upgrade options are generally a lot better.

I like my i7 core, but I'm not sure how AMDs have been performing lately. So also not familiar with its architecture on that MoBo :) . I think that video card is overkill for EVE, though. Or maybe I'm just envious

That Phenom II is going to be better for gaming than the new Bulldozers which just came out from AMD. However, I would second Isi's advice. If you have the cash to spare on the CPU and an appropriate mobo, I'd go with the i5-2500 myself.

LoL, I just upgraded recently to a dual core Athlon II 245 and 8 gb of DDR2, your shit is screaming compared to what I have. But seriously, from all I have read and seen, the intel chips are beating the AMDs of comparable stats based on the memory controller. You can get faster speeds with an Intel than an AMD of the same stats based on memory performance alone. However, AMD is a bit cheaper and its all dependant on what your wallet can handle to be honest. I have not seen alot on the new AMD with built in video, but the concept sounds kewl. I am interested to see how a solo SSD drive is going to perform though, most people I know running SSD as OS and have 2X1TB on raid HDDs for storage.
