Reminiscing about the olden times

So Kahn and I were talking a few days back and names were brought up that I haven't heard in 6+ years and I was wondering just who all are still around from back in the days of MW4 and the maxgaming.net league that never quite got off the ground. It all started with the mentioning of EdGardner and then I started asking about Adrian and the rest of the old crew.

Back in the early days of the league formation I ran House Liao/CapCon as Sun Tzu Liao and my callsign was Fen_Shu. I used to spend time with blokes like Iced_T trying to get support from Comstar, the guys from Clan Cloud Cobra, Clan Blood Mandril, Free Worlds League, and a few others. Anyone else around from back in those days? Are those old forums still about archived somewhere?

I think you'd have to ask The Risen Lord And Saviour for that if he has them around.

Or maybe T-bird if he kept it.

Messiah, Rock-n-Roll, me, handful of others played in the leagues. I am aka Ed Gardner ;)

The old forums are kaput.

I'll ask Adrian if there was a backup, but I doubt it. Adrian is aka jrah ;)

Someone found a live archived copy of the Pepsi Prison stuff a while back now - which perhaps suggests there is an archived copy of the forums somewhere.

Can't remember if I still have the bookmark at home. I'll route around after work and let you know.

I think he means a backup of the MW forums from the league :)

Yeah, I'm referring to that stuff that was dated back in uh....late 90s/early 00s. I'd say more but that was during my horrible insomnia phase so bits and pieces are scattered through my grey matter.

Ah, whoops :) Then perhaps my previous comment should be ignored!

An even better solution, just ignore Anny completely.

I did and wound up in some van down by the river with the Harlem Globetrotters.

And me :) (Though admittedly under the Promethean Legacy name rather than with SSC/SSX)

Messiah asked me about the maxgaming league a couple of months ago and after a bit of searching we couldn't find any reference to it.. A few of our old PL sites are still floating about on the net though as I occasionally stumble across them.

Oh dear lord there it is. And it even had James as Lead Admin before he left/was removed!!! A shame the forums are gone though it would have been great to read through all that old stuff. I do miss those days.

Sorry Quiz - I'm still waiting for a game to capture my imagination again (like MW) then I'll be back - for now I lurk professionally.

Though for the record I'm still SSX through and through!

Excellent, NF! You are truly the finder of things lost on the net. Those were great times indeed!

MW was my gateway to the SSC. Never had more fun online, and never made better online friends. I've personally met three of you reprobates in real life now. Only Inquisitor and Wolfman remain on my MW must meet list.

Get yourself an XBox 360 if you haven't got one already - I need more people to play Test Drive with :thumb:

Me and consoles have never really got on very well as there never seems to be enough keys for my liking..

Though I just had Arma II delivered this morning and i'm fairly confident it will allow me to blow things up.. a lot. :thumb:

Are there any such leagues that are Planetary and stock anymore? Or are those types of leagues a thing of the past?

The DH: Lore games that MGT made have stuff like that, and the Mechassault game had a built in planetary type system as well.

I am afraid though, that pure MW is kaput, though I do see the occasional fan thing now and then.

COUGH I say. COUGH.

MGT's new game, much more like Mechwarrior than the previous Lore...

Ahh, the old days, when the PL splintered from SSC so that we could actually play in leagues.

If I remember correctly, we OWNED the 3058 league with Wolfie being our MW3 ninja.

I wasn't quite as good, just more willing to wait the opponent out. My matches were epic. Wolfie would get 5 or 6 drops in in the time it took me to get through one ;)
