BD just linked this on IRC (and I'm about to tweet it and post it to our main site) but the Star Citizen Anniversary Sale is live.

Good time to buy your packages Anny/Zeph!, and anyone else looking to upgrade their package or pick up additional ships or whatever. Several of the limited ships are available again for the duration of the sale as well btw so I may upgrade my Hornet Ghost to a Super myself, will have a proper look into it later on though :thumb:

It'll also only cost $20 to get into the game, due to the $2 500 Javelin subsidizing it for new members.

There isn't an actual "upgrade" button atm (to go from Ghost to Super) so I melted the Ghost for $140 store credit and then used that towards the Super Hornet. Really nice that you can do that.

Indeed!

Just a quick reminder but the Javelin will be going on sale on and off throughout today, in quantities of 50:

6AM PST Today (11AM GMT)
12PM PST Today (5PM GMT)
6PM PST Today (11PM GMT)
12AM PST Tomorrow (5AM GMT)

I don't suspect any of you are ready to put down $2.5k for one ( :D ) but it does mean those $20 Aurora packages will become available at the same time. So, if there's anyone else here who hasn't backed yet but would like to do so for as cheap as possible then today will be your best bet :thumb:

They all sold out in seconds and the game made about $2 million in roughly five days.

Crazy.

You're right, I'm wrong.

It was at $63 million five days ago, but is $65.6 million now.

So $2.6 million in roughly five days.

It'll probably be $3 in a day or two.

Remember the good old days when they were hitting $63 000 000?

It's about to break $72 000 000 in the next day or two.

Still shocks me how their funding continues to grow and grow, and not in small increments. Crazy.

BD, ANNY, MS, AND EVERYONE ELSE.

STOP NECROING THIS FRAGGING THREAD!!!

Every time I see a new post In here I get excited thinking there's a sale and I head over to RSI, often without actually reading this thread, eager to spend cash on a military pimped Freelancer only to realize there is no sale AND THIS FRAGING THREAD WAS NECROED AGAIN.

STOP IT.

Thank you.

Astounding. TOR is the most expensive game ever made, and it's budget was under $200 million. SC has managed to run a crowdfunding campaign that eclipses even most AAA studio budgets.

This is a Chris Roberts game, so from the very beginning I've been skeptical of SC's ability to deliver on all its promises. But with this much money at their disposal, can they possibly go wrong? I'm becoming a believer.

I think they'll have to sell out to a publisher eventually though.

80 million is triple-a territory, and without a marketing budget it's even better, but they are making a game that is far more than triple-A.

It's an FPS engine that's a Space Simulation, that's an FPS, that's in zero-G, that's an economy simulator, that's an MMO.

Right now they have, what, 350 people on it. That's a lot of money right there, without counting studio costs, the cutting edge motion capture, directing a single player for six months, actors, etc. etc.

Nice that it's rolling, but that money surely must be cutting it close now with the costs.

Bank loans or publisher deals are next.

Less than $200 000 from ONE HUNDRED MIRRION DORRAR!

It actually passed $100 mil a long time ago, since they don't count subscriber money (not to mention asset appreciation), but still.
