I'll sticky this for ya since you're gonna be keeping it updated.
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

okay, how do u get attuned for BWL???
should we make it a guild run??? how many do we need for UBRS runs???
The attunement to BWL is started down the hall outside of UBRS, can get it and complete when we go to UBRS for the blood. We'll all make a trip together and get that. Main thing is I believe a run through BRD to get Attunement to the Core for those still missing it, then get a couple of UBRS runs together to get everyone's blood. If I remember correctly you finish the BWL attunement quest at drak as well so two birds with one stone, it's been a while since we got that one for our hunter though.
If all goes well with runs tonight and tomorrow night you know Trix and I will be there fired up and ready to go!
yea, we can make another run to brd to get attune...too bad, u and trix wasn't on the day we had req just summon everyone...but it's all good....i can give it a go tonite.....either to brd or ubrs.....depends on if we can do it in 10 man ubrs.....
A possible easy way to get the blood, and the way I did it was to just walk into Black Rock Spire instance and ask in the general chat for any groups that had open spots. I mentioned that I was only there for the blood and would not roll on anything. Found a group that was about 10 minutes away from the general.
sakuragi wrote:so they require that you have a mic???
The do not require it, in fact during the large raids they would like for u not to talk on vent so u can hear whats going on from leaders,
Would look at getting one though for use outof the MC raids and such.
Trix is right. Having a mic would be a good idea since we have now been offered to use the STNY vent server from now on for our own guild events. They are even going to set up a separate channel just for us. It will also make cross-guild communication much easier.
Edit: By the way trix, you should update your signature.
Skier the GM of STNY here. I got the e-mail from Magdalena so I figured I'd swing by and check things out here. In order to break the ice here's some background info on STNY so you know where we are coming from as a guild.
STNY was formed by a fella named h3rb (in-game Nistin or Raashnu). He used to work for a company named Time Warner Cable (Southern Tier New York division). He convinced his supervisors to fund some stuff for broadband gaming and that is how the STNY gaming community was born. Most of the orginal members (of which I am not) are from the region. I met them while playing Counter-Strike and later played other games.
STNY first moved into MMOs when Star Wars Galaxies came out. I'm not sure if any of you guys played that game, but there wasn't much in the way of content and primarily the guild was focused on socializing. I wasn't much involved with STNY in SWG and I quit the game a long time before most of the rest of the people did. Some of us played in the initial WoW stress test (Summer '04) and a good chunk of the STNY decided to play WoW.
At the release of WoW, h3rb wasn't planning on playing. I was the most WoW-crazed STNY admin so I took on the responsibility of GM for the guild. We created the guild on the first day of live and invited all the members of the STNY who created alliance characters on Mannoroth. Some of the members of the larger STNY gaming community play on other servers and we also have a few STNYers on the Horde side of Mannoroth (most of them are in Rapture if you're curious).
Most of our guild is made up of casual members. There are a few very hardcore members (myself being one of them). So some time back in January myself and other lvl 60 STNYers started hanging out with Macabre. Macabre at that time was still too small to raid MC by themselves and we came along to help fill the gaps with them. While raiding with Macabre we were fortunate enough to be the first Alliance people to see the end-game raid bosses die.
Eventually Macabre outgrew the need for STNY members and at that point we took what we had learned about MC and started getting our guild in shape to be able to do the end-game content. This included recruiting people, gearing people, and all that other fun stuff. In May, we formed a 4-way Alliance with some other smaller guilds (STNY composed about 50% of the playerbase in the Alliance). We enjoyed amazing success with the Alliance. After awhile, however, we decided that we had too many people to be in an Alliance of that size so we split.
So for the past few months we've been doing all guild raids and taking down the end-game content. Things were going quite well. However, certain members of the guild were causing drama and eventually we had to boot a few people. They left and some of their friends left with them so that brings us to the present time. We've been lacking lately in active players and more importantly, enthusiastic, team-oriented players. I'm hoping this is where you guys fit in :-)
Anywho, that's the STNY history in a nutshell. I'll make another post later that includes some logistical information about the guild. Until then, see you in Azeroth.
Welcome to our little asylum skier, glad you stopped by to say hi. Hopefully over the next few weeks we'll get the opportunity to know each other a lot better.
Hmm... what else do you need to know about our group? We mostly aim to have fun, whatever we may be doing. The girls will keep the guys in line for you for the most part (guys reading this remember even if your wife doesn't play you do have a woman in your life we can call to slap you, be it Wife, Girlfriend, Mother, Sister). lol
You'll often hear us call each other by RL names because some of us have so many alts, so hope we don't confuse you too much.... Well, I'll leave some space for everyone else to put in their .02...
mag,
shouldn't u have been a sleep already? i mean 3:45 am post...wow....
skier,
it's nice to meet you...thanks for the intro.....
hearing the way the loots system is was nice....except, why would mages not have much luck in getting gears in mc??? is it cause the mages in ur guild needs them and they just haven't dropped??? by the way, i am one of the few that has many alts and multiple lvl 60s that i can use to go to mc.......they are all attuned....anyways, i am more worried about wife's lvl 60 mage more then mine....

Mages having trouble getting gear is simply due to having so many of them. Take warlocks for example. We usually only have 3 warlocks on a raid. Due to the low competition for items, all the warlocks are decked to the teeth. With mages, we usually bring about 7 so there's over twice the competition for items. However, there is a certain amount of silver lining to this situation. The people with the lowest percentages are almost always the mages so when an non-class specific caster item drops, the mages usually cut the warlocks / druids out of the item.
I personally love having a guild with lots of mages. It's so helpful for an instance like ZG and rocks in PVP. We convinced a bunch of our mages to spec frost as well. The frost mages do awesome damage in MC.
gottacha....well, my mage is frost spec 18/0/33 right now...don't plus mage as much, since i let my wife get most of the gears for her mage...she is a fire spec mage......don't remember exactly what the specs are......
am usually more on as the rogue.....
but thanks for the response on the gear stuff...i wasn't sure about that.....
another question for u.....how long does a MC run usually take....for example, the one that's going on tonite...how long do you estimate it to take.....since i haven't been on one, i am just curious....

Tonight's run is just to farm trash mobs so we'll just farm until people get bored. I'd estimate that we might be in there 2 hours or so tonight. It's hard to gauge how long an MC clear takes since it's largely dependent on raid performance. Some weekends everyone will be on the ball and we might clear MC a few hours quicker than on an off week. Generally though Friday is about 4-5 hours and Saturday is around 6 hours. As a comparison, Tweleve Prophets clears the whole instance from start to Ragnaros dead in under 2 hours. The top Alliance guilds are all under 4 hours in total time they spend in MC a week. On the other end of the spectrum we have easily shaved 6+ hours off the time it took us to clear when we started doing MC.
Here's a map of MC. To give you an idea of scale, to clear to Lucifron (the orange dot) it takes us around 40 minutes.
Wow that's a big picture. Thanks for the detailed map, Skier. Last night's run was a lot of fun.
Just sitting here at work really bummed that I won't be able to go again tonight. Just waiting until I'm done with my 8 hours here so that I can head to my next job... yay!
Count me in for Saturday night though.
lol...yea....it was nice of them to give me the set piece....
i'll be on MC tonite, well, most likely, i will......
as for getting the Onyxia, i wonder when we have time to get it...probably sat morning.....well, seems like that's the only time since they are doing onyxia sat nite...lol....anyhow......too bad sean...u can't go....doh...it's okay....we'll let u know how it went...
Early saturday works for me. I know Taliant said that some STNY people would be free to help us if we do it late Saturday morning / early afternoon. I'm hoping we can get all the drakk blood's we need in one run. Only Jonisrahl, Leapha, Doll, and Magdalena need it, right?
honestly, i do not know...lol...i know my rogue needs it...i know my wife's mage don't cause of u...thanks by the way...really thanks...one less for me to worry about.....
as for others, i really don't know....
i gotta run to stores this weekend...sat morning.....i won't be back until probably in the afternoon, that's what i am thinking...so i don't know for now....
If we did it with STNY, I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem with letting Doll follow us through the instance even though you wouldn't be using her. Just have Weili make sure that the rogue keeps up with us in the instance and we can get it for you. If Weili will be home, that is. Otherwise there might be the option of having another one of us log onto your account. I know most of us have access to multiple computers. That idea, though, would be totally up to you. I just don't want to have to see anyone left out on Saturday.
