MC/BWL STNY New Policies

Post by Magdalena »

Okay, first before I get blasted, this is not from me. I have pulled this from a posting on the STNY site. I know all of us have been bringing 100% to the raids and have no reported issues, but we all have a little room for improvement on our gear lists. We've all been working and raiding on off nights to improve this, but some further behind than others might want to start looking at pub raiding when we don't have enough people online, etc.

I know its not our favorite thing due to the abundance of mean people out there, but I for one am willing to put in my fair share of these with you if I'm on.. figure we can endure anything if there's at least hopefully someone to endure it with. For now, I'm just going to put Skier's commentary up so you can know what is going on.

*****Quoted from Skier's Post******
At the start of raids we will start designating one of the officers to be the go-to guy for tells with these types of matters. If someone is not playing up to snuff, has bad gear, or any of that type of behavior, send a tell to that officer with who/what information. They will write the stuff down. This officer will be responsible for keeping track of stuff, not detecting the behavior. Figuring out who isn't A-Gaming is everyone's responsibility.

I started a post on these forums called "Slacker List" and stickied it. After the raid the officer who is keeping track will come here and post the list for each raid. If we see the same name start popping up consistantly, appropriate action will be taken.

Things to send tells to the officer about :

* Someone in crappy gear
* Someone with crap fire resistance
* Someone pulling aggro
* Someone who isn't on vent (Turner is our only Mac user, so he is exempt until the next version of vent comes out)
* Someone who is performing poorly
* Someone who doesn't come prepared (no pots, repair money, broken armor, etc.)

Things not to send tells about :

* Someone who is AFK (we are already tracking this)
* Personal conflicts

******End Quote From Skier's post******

In truth, I believe most of us by now have close to or all blue equipment for our standard sets, the items we need to work most on is likely fire resistance gear which is understandably more difficult for some than others. I'll try and talk to skier and find out exactly what they're looking for in this, if its just a matter of showing that you're trying to improve it or being at a required level before entering the instance period. Worst case, we'll take some extra time before we join them for the next raid to work the fr gear unless otherwise told, would give us some extra mc farming runs with Archons if nothing else...

I believe we have someone now who can make the first two epic fr gear for Cloth, Leather, and Plate, I know we have a couple of at least blue FR gear for plate wearers that can be made, not sure on those epics? In between these we'll farm areas that have highest drops for blue FR gear, both BRS, BRD, DM as hold-overs for people until we can get the epic fr gear made for everyone.

A lot of the FR that is needed for MC is most importantly needed for our tanking and general melee classes. I'm sure STNY will probably be cracking down on those classes a little harder than the casters. Seeing that, like you said, most of us are well equiped already, having crap gear shouldn't be much of an issue. So, I suggest we try and get our tanks geared with FR first(that means you, Magdalena ;) ). Our MC run with Archons this week should be much more productive so we'll have a good estimate of how easily this can be done.

Keep in mind that pug groups are another way to find other good players to join up with us. It's even the way that you guys found me, way back when. Memories... /sigh

Yeah, I think you're the reason we don't do pugs anymore... we gotta get over that tank in cloth fear... :P

Seriously though, I've got mine up to 142 (well as soon as I get my favorite enchanter to put fire res on cloak I just got)... the cloak isn't meant for a tanker but it was sold to me cheap and has 10 fire res...

I actually was doing fairly decent on rag with 132 unbuffed fire res... still work to do but I didn't die until i sacrificed myself with challenging shout because of issues getting suns bunched up together for aoe...

I was tanking 2 with my healer doing an awesome job, but all of 'em at once was a little more than they could handle... no fault of their own, I knew I was sacrificing myself to try and give the group a fighting chance...

Also keep in mind having higher fire res will help with the farming runs for the better fire res items too... every little thing helps...

Any way you look at it though, SSX guys have been doing awesome in helping each other as often as we can (every time we have enough players online). We got a much later start prepping for MC and have gotten a lot done in getting our guys up to spec for this in a relatively short amount of time. Great job guys!

Wanted to add something to this and get the rest of your thoughts.

I've left Skier an PM asking what minimum we need to be at to avoid being on that list, still waiting to hear back on that as I just sent it.

My thought though is that I'd be willing if I'm one of the ones meeting the minimum armor requirements while others are not yet, to sit out the raid to help them get there if they're online at the start of the raid. Basically would mean to look at all of the level 60s online right before invites start... if all are eligible, sign up when its time... if none are, or there are some that aren't, sit this one out and go play in some dungeons to try and help them out. The idea would be to keep looking at it this way until all of our current active characters (mains, not alts) are eligible to run together in MC. At the very least, try to ensure those that don't have high enough equipment have enough people not doing MC to run DM or something to work their equipment. Would everyone else be okay with this once they reach minimum armor requirements as well?

I just really want to get my Flarecore Gloves. That will really help out my fire resistance. It's hard to find gear with fire resistance that isn't crap compared to our current gear. You can always check out the link in my profile also to see how I'm doing with fire resistance. What you see is what I have, though. I never carry around anything other than what I am currently equipping. Unlike our beloved Jonis, who carts around an entire arsenal of weapons with him. ;)

Well it looks like I will be hitting some PUG's than to try and get my gear. I still need quite a bit of my class gear and need to up my fire res quite a bit. I will not be able to make this weeks Archons raids due to holiday family things. I hope to be able to get as much time as possiable in next week though.

You all have fun Thursday and Friday. I will miss you all and the fun that will be had.

:Edit: YEAH I just read that one of them is on Wed.... That means I can run that one with you all!!!!!!

I will not be able to Play Thursday Night or Friday night. I am not sure about Saturday or Sunday. It all depends on how things go. Other than that the next probable day I will not be on is New Years Eve. I will probably be on all day Monday after Christmas though as I have work off.

Update

Post by Magdalena »

Okay guys, I received a reply from skier today, just logged in to get it and give ya'll the update real quick. Basically he said not to worry too much about the list as long as we're showing that we're putting forth effort, not to let it stop us from coming on the raid. Even if one or some end up on the list, if its just for equipment not to worry too much as long as we're showing progress to improve that outside of MC as well.

My basic thoughts from his response for us, keep like we are, fitting in raids and doing pubs where we can to get what we can for improvements. If we see somebody appear on the list, it lets that person and the guild know that we need to focus on areas to get improvement for them. For the individual, basically look up where the most items are that would bump you up in the area reported, whether it be to get more upper level standard blues (not necessarily your class set) or more FR gear, and where is the best place for you to be farming that has the highest probability of getting you better gear, then let the group know, and keep an eye in IF for others looking to go there.

Undrin, you just recently got your hunter to 60, the fact that you're not decked out or anything is going to be understandable to everyone, the drop rates on some of this stuff is a killer. Also, not sure if you've checked with Jonis yet but I think he's got a couple of sweet mail fr pieces that are blue he can build.... find out what the mats are, I think they were more reasonably obtainable (not like the dark iron stuff). We can also keep our eyes out for that while we're out, some of us may already have some of it.

This is what I pretty much expected, just showing that we're putting forth effort. I mentioned the minimums only because I'd heard them mentioned several times over vent and wanted to verify what was expected before we walked into another raid. Its still a good gauge to see how close we're getting, keep that as our focus goal for now and when we get everyone there, raise the bar a little.

Anyway, hope to see you all on tomorrow night for the trash run and have another great night. If you have any more questions, try to ask me on vent so nobody has to suffer through another of my extremely long posts unless necessary. If a question comes up that I think needs to be added to this, you know I'll end up adding it up here... gots to go to bed now.

Great update. Thank you for the info. I will talk to Jonis next time I see him on and go from there than.

PS Your posts arent to long they give me something to do while at work. My job is kind of slow most of the time and reading the news online gets really old.

Hey Gutka,

Welcome to the forums! Hoping we have another great turnout tonight!

Just so you know, this post is more about the full runs we're doing with STNY. Better gear will help greatly in these trash runs and stuff as well, but isn't making as big of an impact since we're not doing boss fights...
may have an impact in ZG, I don't know as I haven't gone on one of those runs yet. As for MC though, if people get real adventuresome and want to try and 20-man a boss after we get a system going good, we'll certainly try... likely die many horrible deaths, but we can definitely try... probably want to get a few with just trash mobs under our belts though so both sides can work at getting their people equipped.

As we mentioned at the end of last week, if you get the mats together from these and want to use it to boost your players gear up, we have people that can build the first couple of the FR items... let us know what you need sometime outside of the raid and we'll point to who you need to see. (No, they won't charge you to build it, just bring them your mats... its to benefit joint raid efforts.) Not sure what type of internal system ya'll have going to distribute those, but leaving that up in the open because I think most had left the raid by the time that was mentioned.

(This goes for STNY too, but I'm pretty sure they have people a lot further than our guys.)

Yukirina have been working on her FR gear after our last encounter. Since she will be our MT... I stink as a tank. I think she just crafted the Dark Iron chest piece. Still work to do, but improved from last time.

It's good to see you posting on our forums. :) And we are really like hearing that you guys enjoy these runs and that you are working on FR and all that good stuff.
I think I will actually be on time to tonight's run now that my night class is done.

Just letting you guys know, I don't think I will be able to make it tonight to MC. Some of that real life stuff has come up again. Didn't feel the need to make a new thread for this as I'm sure someone will notice this post.
Good Luck tonight!

Just to clarify things up a bit, I was only speaking for myself. I heard there was a little bit of confusion last night. The raid was still going to happen, it was just that I couldn't go. In the future, just contact one of us if you think that the raid might be canceled. Otherwise, assume we will go every time provided we have enough people. Join us in ventrilo from time to time if you guys have questions. Gutka, I'm not sure how many people in Archons check these forums so if you could please pass this along. Thanks!

I've posted this on Archons forums too, and most of you already know... last nights raid we kinda made a concensus about the raids that affects everyone going...

If at the scheduled start time of the raid there are not enough level 60s or we don't have the right group set-up to go as is, we're going to cancel the raid at that point. Invites start 30 minutes in advance, so that should be more than long enough to ask people to wait around to find out if its going to happen or not...

Late comers will still be able to join up when they get online, provided there was a good enough turn-out that showed up and sent the tell to get themselves into the raid on time.

If there are not enough people, what that group goes to do will depend on the numbers and class of people in the raid.

Having to do this because there's not a lot of time on weeknights for these runs, don't want to end up wasting people's entire night for nothing if we can help it, at least get some group activity going.
