Inq, if you are saying that the log I posted is broken, all I got rid of was Signon and Signoff messages, as well as a few lines of Homeworld discussion, things like "I wonder what I'm gonna have for dinner." and the things you asked me to edit out.

I was aware about the contradiction to the common ssx mentality when i wrote this quote... & i did it with a reason. It was meant in the first place not as "it's none of your business" or "you can't understand" kind of nonsense, but i wanted to point out that before you are *bitching about certain baserules* you better make sure to actually get the *first hand knowledge of how we handle things in wow* from the responsible ssx members (& even then its just a restricted information you can deal with).Sofia wrote:BD will hate me for this quote, BUT: you cant judge certain aspects of the wow community as long as your not involved.
*first hand knowledge of how we handle things in wow* > *bitching about certain baserules*
Because i cant sit quite & shut up when the wow gaming grp is accused with things like: we take every healer no matter if he fits in or not, only to be able to run MC... or that our effort in the endgame content is only about the loot. Noone who would have talked to QD or MS could seriously argue this. However, Quiz made the effort to lighten me up about the nature of the irc quote... ty.
Nontheless, even the recruitment discussion on rogues was imo just a misunderstanding, because noone apperantly could point out that we dont take the rules as firm ingame as they seem to be... it was no full stop on rogues (& thats the point the discussion was centered around)... ppl on our friendslist & fellow wow players we learned to trust & are involved with us would be given the opportunity to join ANYTIME (rogue or not). This point was even suggested by Kahn during the discussion & now we extended this not only to rogues, but to all calsses... (not because BD barked at us, but out of reasons ingame related to new members) ...full recruitment stop means we are currently not looking for new members, but there are some ppl we actually could consider to be part of ssx judging upon how involved they are ingame. Some even post in the ssx forum... & if those ppl wish to join ssx for some reason, there would be no member in the wow gaming grp who would turn them away: sorry, but our recruitment is closed atm!
one last thing:
dont reduce my post to the few words i quoted above... they are the least important & i think there are more valid points in it. ty.
im sorry if my post has caused some havoc, but it was the only reasonable response to gryphs post i could give at that time.

Sofia and MS, the healer comment was bull, I apologize. It was meant to be a reference to the rouge ban. Now as Sofia has clarafied, this is now done with all classes. I wasn't aware of that at the time I said it in IRC.
As for the rest of my ponts, well I already have an essay to work on today so I won't go into much detail, but like Gryph, I just wish more WoW guys would post and chat, but like QD said, you can't force them.

Hrm... I suppose I'm considered one of the "old guys" with SSX... But do I usually log on to IRC to chat with the rest of the group who are playing other games? Not really... It's not that I can't, nor is it that I simply don't want to talk to them. I'll be honest. I view pretty much all the forum sections everytime I log on to the site. But do I ever post in most of them? Nope. Why? I'm not playing the game. Most of you have probably figured out my usual game pattern of "highly addicted, highly active" to "not addicted, not active" with almost every game I've played with the SSX (thinking back to SSC, I pretty much stayed in the SSC-NC forum section).
So basically, well, I just woke up so my mind's a little jumbly at the moment, I'd have to relate myself to the WoW players that aren't actively participating in the rest of the forums. They're enjoying their time in the little section called SSX-WoW. I don't blame them, and I don't blame the "leaders" in there either. I'm sure they're doing their best to encourage out-of-forum participation but hey, in the end it's up to the players to decide to talk in general/join IRC.

well hi there.
even tho my voice is only ever heard in the wow side of things, i do look at a fair amount of things.
i've tried to learn the history, which always interests me. i've poked around to get a better idea of the split and such, i like to know about the group i'm and and share my spare time with.
just my little addage, even if a little l8, i do try!

Well, I started getting upset at this at first but stopped with laughter seeing the whining transcends outside of WoW as well.
I've had different experiences being on the smaller side of the WoW spectrum (US) but keeping things going smoothly is definitely a challenge in any MMORPG as many have stated previously.
I played FFXI a while back and saw the same troubles there, though not as big and wide since there weren't as many things that required such a large number of people as WoW does. While this allows a lot more gameplay, it presents a challenge in keeping a close group together through it all and almost requires you to be part of some huge group in order to take part in end game content.
I personally as well as most of the US group have tried to take learning experiences from the folks over on the EU side on where things went wrong and possible ways of avoiding going down the same road. This isn't an easy task, which is why we chose to try to tackle it early on.
I've noticed a great improvement recently on the EU side as well, but hope to tackle these problems a little earlier. I'm always open to suggestions on better ways to accomplish this. Everyone will still have their opinion on stuff, but the differing opinions I believe is what will keep the group to where it needs to be, two heads are always better than one.
I personally welcome any SSX person that has doubts to join us on ventrillo some Saturday... meeting is at 3pmEST and drinking runs usually start at about 7-8pm... open to getting to know and hang out with any of you guys.
Getting people outside of their group is a bit of a tough challenge. It isn't made easier by most comments inside the group correcting their actions or getting onto them for what they're doing wrong.
Most of our group at least are adults with jobs, wives, husbands, kids etc. The bit of time they get in WoW or whatever game they're playing at the time is the only little bit of enjoyment time they get.
I personally along with many others I know read through at least the EU-WoW, General, and Members sections at least once a week... if there's something I have to comment on, I do... but usually there isn't. Its not that I don't care about the people talking, just that the subject they're currently discussing isn't of any interest to me or everything I'd say has already been said.
I'd troll IRC too likely during the day except it goes to a different site which is blocked by my company's firewall which I don't yet have the access to alter. Most of the time I have to discuss is either during lunch or while waiting on something at work. I have a job where I always have to be available but am not necessarily needed every moment of the day (stating before BD gets onto me about posting at work - grinning because I note he does it sometimes too :P)
I however also agree with a lot said about the forums and IRC being very unpersonal ways of getting to know people. Part of the problem is the fact that the people spend so much time together within their own group. Some are there talking to one another every day, knowing when someone has a cold or decides to slam a set of bleachers on their head at work, worrying along with their wife while she waits at home because she's staying with the kids while they've been taken to the hospital. You can't expect forums and IRC to create the same bonds as things like that. Then that same group comes here and sees one of those they've come to know as a sort of family being attacked by someone they've only seen make a couple of posts on a forum here and there. Any time you start you're almost always coming in mid-stream here, there's always history behind what's being said you're not going to know, and people are always going to jump to the wrong conclusions at times. What makes the difference I believe is taking the time to fill them in and catch them up as best as each person can... not immediately all jumping down their throat. Some are better than others at realizing misunderstandings, and we all have our bad days, so in a group this large there's always going to be some drama somewhere, how we handle it and how willing we are to understand one another will in the end define the end results. That falls on every single group, not just WoW and not just those outside of WoW.
My viewpoint of SSX has been that of a group of good people to play with in any game. I knew joining that I'd likely not get to know them all while playing WoW, but also knew I would look them up when I go to a new game if any are playing it. So far in-game there's only been 1 exception to that. Given, the exception was a very ugly mess that made me and others miserable for weeks (due to not knowing how to handle the situation), but it was worth it for the others we've gotten to know.
Our 'recruiting' method was one result of watching errs from elsewhere. We all want to be in the higher instances just as bad as everyone else... they're fun, but instead of going out and advertising we start leveling alts that we see are in shortage in spare time, classes that could help the guild when we get to that point in time to raid. During this leveling we try to keep our eyes open for friendly people and stick with them at least before they pass that character too far. If they're good people we ask them if they'd like to join more good people, explaining we might not always have someone their level right now but have people that are willing to help if they need something with whatever character they do have. They join and usually bring with them their friends/family etc later down the line. We also set a maximum number of recruits at any one point in time to 5.
All in all this is only the second attempt for an SSX group in a game the size of WoW with the pressure it has for large groups of people. It will still be a learning experience and I'm sure we'll still find things that were done wrong. One was that because it was so small for so long the group was kind of dropped off the face of the earth from the rest of SSX, it was an open SSX group with no 'old school real SSX members' left by the time I personally joined as well as others. It was honestly mostly by luck and heart that both groups seemed to still be on the same continent by the time they met up, for the US group had been running pretty much independant for months at least. We had the charter and about SSX but no real contact. These are things still having an impact, something I'm still working on because I know the hearts of gold the group I play with have. I also realize though that their hearts don't always show too well on the forums to strangers. I still don't know from some responses the hearts of others on here... some I've come to see as good people but most are still undecided no matter how much I talk to them on here, they seem to have too many dimensions for a one-dimensional form of communication.
I at least would be open too to something like a global voice comm system for all of SSX since while we can't really type on an IRC and play, we can run our mouths and play at the same time... something some of us do quite frequently. Not sure if that would help or not, but about the only idea I see as it's the only thing that doesn't mess my computer up or cause a huge lag when trying to play. Tried running in windowed mode to be able to access websites etc. but can't see anything when it's in windowed mode due to discoloration and general blurriness even at max window size. Otherwise going to anything else requires minimizing WoW which causes it to crash 1/3 of the time. Some have better luck but that seems to be about average for most.

dont we actually have a teamspeak / vent server allready? if we dont, we sure could use one. especially for games like WoW. in NC we didnt exactly worry because there were only ever 3 or 4 of us max lol.
coming from NC-2 (being one of the smallest comunities i have ever been part of) i know maybe 5 SSX members from ingame. but i feel like i know a lot more from just being around the forums. i post everywhere i think i can make a valid point, regardless of what the topic / game / group is.
i dont buy into any of this "if we dont play the same game, we cant know each other" type of thing. im heading off to manchester tommorow, and london the day after, to meet with SSX members i have never even played the same game as. i should call it off because i dont play WoW? no, ill go have a beer and make some new friends. see you tommorow guys...

Also the wow-us group currently has a ventrillo server too... I think the cap on it is 40 simultaneous connections, but at this time on average we're having a busy night if we have half of that...
I posted it in the members only wow forum for any of those interested. (At least I'm about 80% sure that's the right info... I'm going off of memory.)
