Don't believe it is the desire to not have gold in the bank, but rather the questioning on how it should be done, where the start-up funds would come from and other details to be discussed prior to even thinking about just handing over guild bank funds for the investment. All of those and likely more would have to be discussed before most would feel comfortable with this.
You're a money person, so tell me if you wanted to make more money and thought the stocks might work for you but hadn't investigated them, then your neighbor comes up and tells you his friend has been playing the stocks and has doubled his money every week for the past 3 weeks, he wants his friend to do this for you too but to start you'd have to sell some stuff for the initial investment. Would you hand over everything you own blindly to allow his frind to decide what to sell and what to invest the money in?
If so, give me all your stuff, I got a bridge to sell you...
More likely, you'd ask instead what the start-up costs were and want to know what it would be invested in, how much would be invested into each stock, investigate these stocks yorself and if it all looked good see how/if you could get up the investment for the stocks, if his friend was a licensed broker you felt comfortable with you'd probably let him do the investing at that point, but you'd still have to have a say if he wanted to change to a different stock later and keep an eye on it yourself as well.
Your post jumped straight past all the other discussions and straight to hand it all over...
We all know you mean well, but I don't think the group is ready for that part of the discussion yet from the looks of it.

i just want to know why people voted no....
honestly, i don't care if the guild bank has gold or not....i just don't like hearing people asking to chip in because the guild bank has no gold...that's that....it's a means to supply the guild bank with gold for pots and what nots...
i wouldn't give a thought if the guild bank has no gold or not...heck, if u guys don't like the suggestion, fine..i am fine with it....close the poll....if all u want to do is discuss it, in which it's usually everyone be silent while 1 person put their thoughts into and that's it...fine with me....
what's the point of having discussions if there is not outcome??? what's the point of finding solutions when no one wants to try it....i am only giving a solution to a problem...if people don't like it...fine....
but i don't want to hear any complaints about the guild bank has not gold, the guild bank can't do this or that....

Again, no need to get upset over this... You asked for reasoning, I gave you mine. Think the thought is good personally but think more info needs to go with it.
This is one reason to discuss first then bring up the poll...
1) Where would we get the start-up gold, do we have it in the bank already? If not what would we sell? Example: I wouldn't vote for selling the cores as was mentioned in one discussion on this, they're too tough to come by... how much is needed to get this started?
2) How would the profits be tracked? If already doing this on his own char there's a possibility for funds getting mixed up. Not saying Gutka would do so on purpose as I don't believe he would, but would be difficult to track what was the banks and what was his.
3) How is it currently being done, does it allow for enough market to do so for both his character and the bank and still be as profitable for both?
These are some questions I personally came up with, I'm sure others have other questions most likely. Would be good to get them out into open discussion if they would. Also, they may have not been able to get back on with enough time to post a reply.
Lets not be hasty and find out what is going on first, see if there are things that can be answered and look at it more later. As for asking for contributions, so far the idea that has come up was to put up a lottery to fund the bank, something that has seemed to get very positive reactions so far as it's not just handing it over but playing a game that could be fun. Nobody has to play if they don't want to.

I think the web polls are not the way to talk or decide on these kida of things, IMO they should be decussed here then brought to the guild meeting for vote, lets everyone then hash out the details then we present it, in the meeting and get a vote.
just my 2 cents.

I'm all for letting a trusted member handle investing of guild funds, especially if that person has a proven return record.
Who's account are the guild bank characters on, Chris'? What if Chris were the one to actually do the handling of goods and money on Gutka's instructions?
As far as start up funds, how about we all pitch in a given percent of our current cash to the pot and use that? 10-20% shouldn't kill any of us.
We could even designate an afternoon/evening (or multiple) as trash run days/nights where all items [unless someone REALLY needs it] get sold as start up funds. If someone does need an item then he/she would be expected to donate the money received from selling the item being replaced in lieu of the new item being equipped.
