Anybody up for some fun?

Post by Magdalena »

Ok, stealing this idea from the EU sector... wanted to see if we get any takers on this... adding my own twist to make it very interesting and challenging on a pvp server...

So, we set up a race... everybody in pairs, 1 lvl 60 and 1 lvl 1 character... all lvl 1s are humans so they're in the same starting zones. Put everybody into raid so we can see the stats because the rules are no speed increases, pots, food, or water allowed.

The race starts at the gate of the human starting area and your objective is to be the first one to get your little level 1 all the way to BRD and be the first to do it.

Why BRD? Well, there's a high chance of horde activity and it's going to be a difficult place to protect the level 1 and keep your 60 alive.

2 people will have to be sitting the actual race out, 1 at the starting line and 1 inside the instance to see who makes it there first. I volunteer to be one of those 2.

Maybe do the race instead of the standard lottery this Saturday... have everyone chip in and the winners split the winning pot?

1 other rule I think we should have for this is people who live in the same house and/or couples are not allowed to team up for this... mix up the groups a little to get aquainted to somebody new.

What do you guys think?

I think it'll be fun... I don't mind doing start or end or I can do both with steve's and my account. or if jack lends me the hunter I can alt tab between both. The instance char has to be actually outside the instance I think since the lvl 1 will not be able to get in to the instance. Also I think we should make the meeting probably short as possible since as much as fun it may be I rather not see people just getting stuck because of a horde raid. random hordes I think is okay but a raid is just too much. We also need to open up a lot more vent channels or else this is going to get very confusing. Either that or cell phones lol.

Sounds like a lot of fun and I'd be all up for it except I'm running a D+D game this weekend. :( Perhaps if we do it again.

That will be really easy to do. We can just set those up before we start, if we do this.

Yep, and darn proud of it... see my new epix idea??

Edit:
PS - I was in IRC when the conversation came up, so I already know that the EU group Ninja'd it off of somebody else first!

Ninja'ing a Ninja'd idea. Double Negative? Two negatives make a positive, so.... Great work, Magdalena! :D

-Edit-
The hard part is going to be getting the groups set up. Deciding who will be the 60's and who will be the lvl 1's, or just grouping up and leaving that up to the groups. This is something we should get started on.

And I just had another idea for a SSX-Race ver.2.0. Seems like it would deffinitely be possible with this group...

Girls vs. Boys

We make two teams of equal size, splitting the girls of the guild against the boys. We have the same race from Northshire Abbey to BRD. Each team has two or three lvl 1's and the rest are lvl 60's to protect them. Winning team gets the gold and, more importantly, bragging rights.

Think the fairest way to select pairs is to first have the people without level 60s /random, then have the level 60s random.... highest of both are paired together... then repeat until all non lvl 60s have a partner...

The remaining lvl 60s /random again then... the two highest are together, then the next two are together, and so on...

Obviously if paired with a person that doesn't have a lvl 60, that person will roll a lvl 1 alt...

If two 60s paired together, they can choose who will roll a lvl 1.

The lvl1 should be named after your main
Example:
Magdalena = lvl 1 named MagdalenaRacer

just more thoughts from me... what do you guys think?

That's fine... main thing was to have an easy way to reference the racers and know who they are rather than having a bunch of names nobody recognizes...

Also with the 'racer' tag, it kinda signals to others seeing us that we have an event going on....
