Guild Recruitment Ad Suggestions/ Discussion

Post by Magdalena »

This is an idea for the advertisement on the WoW recruiting forums as discussed in our meeting. While recruiting is not limited to those 55+ in the guild, while advertising these are the ones we will have the easiest time getting to know in an efficient manner and getting them closer to other guild members.... Input, thoughts and suggestions welcome before this is posted.

Shattered Star eXiles Mannoroth Server, Alliance is currently opening recruiting for levels 55+ in order to increase numbers for higher end raids.

SSX is a family oriented guild with focus on friendships wishing to recruit mature players with similar values and goals. We strive on values of friendship, family, and helping our fellow guild mates achieve both personal and group goals. Currently we have about 20-25 active level 60 players with several others reaching their low to mid 50s and have recently started working AQ20 and ZG though due to the casual environment and belief of this guild that real life comes first, often fall short of having the numbers necessary to run these instances, only getting 11-15 players online at the same time.

Our current raid schedule is Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm Mannoroth Server time. While raid attendance is not required, it is strongly encouraged as a means of growth as a community. Other instances are run fairly regularly during the week and we are starting to schedule all raids/events through Guild Event Manager, a UI that allows you to post a time for a specific instance/raid and have others subscribe to be there.

Our short-term goal is to have enough people to run and complete ZG and AQ20 on a regular weekly basis with the long-term goal of reaching MC, and eventually BWL and AQ40. With opening recruitment, the short-term goal should be reached fairly quickly, however one must understand the long-term goal may take some time since finding people is easy, however finding quality people with the same goals in mind may take a little longer. Several of our players are already experienced in MC from alliances of the past or running with other guilds that they have friends in, and these players are ready to take on leadership when the time comes to direct our group to success in this instance.

We will not use DKP for our raids, but instead a percentage system which rewards those who have higher attendance to raids but does not lock out newer players to the group. We have found this system easier to maintain and it is considered by our players a fairer system than any DKP weve seen to date. We do have a Ventrillo server and Ventrillo and the latest CTRaid will be required for all raids.

You may be wondering what we mean by family oriented, within our guild several people have their children who are playing online as well. These children are taught to respect the rest of the group and are kept to that regard by their parents, however we expect our members to learn who the kids are and respect them as well. Doing this requires trying to watch your language and subject matter while they are online. Were fairly loose when the kids arent online, but if you feel you cant be mindful of them when they are online, this likely is not the guild for you. We all have slip-ups, so you wont get kicked for an accidental explitive, however there will be a problem if it starts happening too frequently.
We also strive to help one another as much as possible, this may include but is not limited to going in parties to help others with attunement quests, helping locks and pallies in battles for their epic quests, running scholo, strat, ubrs, lbrs, etc to get people equipped and ready for raids, helping remaining people not yet at 60 finish tough quests and instances for exp/quests in order to help them reach the point of raiding with the rest of the group.

Our group also holds a guild bank for enchant items etc as we try to provide these as much as possible to our guild mates. Everybody is expected to contribute once they are members, and will receive when needed in return. While these options are not available until Member status is achieved, if you are selfish and like to horde items to yourself, this is likely not the guild for you.
The last but not least requirement is you have to want to have fun. Were prone to goofing off when not in raids, having drinking runs (adult night), taking on things we couldnt possibly make it out of alive (and usually living anyway somehow). While raid time is time to focus and listen and get serious, non raid time is anything but. We rag on each other, pick on each other constantly, and battles of the sexes happen fairly frequently. (Did I mention we need more strong women to help us girls out over here yet?) If you take things too seriously, this group will likely drive you nuts at times, but may just cure you of the inability to laugh. Most of us range in age from 20s-30s, with a few non monitored mature youngsters.
SSX also has many similar groups outside of WoW if youre looking for friends in other games as well, however each group is handled somewhat independently.
If this sounds like a group you would like to be an active part of, look us up on the web at http://www.shatteredstar.org and post a little about yourself, also look us up in game and get to know some of our players.

Its not a mass recruit, just a way to get abit more few more potential members in.

What we could do is only let a few like 3 or 2 in every two weeks for us AND them to get a feel of the guild. We will put the rest on a waiting less depending on the classes we need.

As several have stated already, this is not and I repeat NOT a mass recruit. Sorry for the panic I know went through veins, that was all discussed in the meeting and should have been put in my message as well.

We are still keeping our 5 person limit and they will still hold initiate status for 2 weeks before becoming SSX members.

The problem has been in finding people for those 5 slots on a semi-regular basis. We reside on a server in which 99% of the people are already in established or semi-established guilds. The other 1% that are unguilded have mostly ended up being complete jerks, guild hoppers looking for easy loot or serious raiders waiting for a guild with server first competition, etc.

These 3 personality types obviously don't fit SSX at all. Playing with others and PUGs has been done, and we have gotten a few wonderful people this way, but finding them is often like finding a needle in a haystack...

In this manner we're hoping to give those out there looking for a clan like ours a map to the needle in their haystack as we're also not out on the Radar like the EU side is... people on our server have never heard of SSX or know very little about them.

This was to let them know who we are, what we're about, and give the ability to search us out if interested. Before doing this, we will be asking to reopen the US Recruiting forums for filtering purposes.

It isn't going out yet as we do have a couple more preparations to make first, this forum was supposed to be to discuss what we wanted to say in this posting when we put it up, hoping I have eased enough fears to get back to that.

I would omit this part:
often fall short of having the numbers necessary to run these instances, only getting 11-15 players online at the same time.
This statement takes away from the overall positive recruitment post, is circumstantial and sounds like a detourant.

Other then that I like it, great job :thumb:

Me and Ricky came up with another idea, you guys might wanna try. Why don't we advertise to find another small guild, so we can have an alliance, like what you and STNY did. An aliance would bring use give us the bigger raid we need without the risk of a mass recruitment.

BH, I was actually thinking something similar... just need to have our loot tracking system in order before we start that... something Trix and I are working on... should have some idea how much longer this is going to take us this weekend... had to learn a couple of things first and just got started on the actual application, database, and website building...

It has the basics of the loot system, but only with excel software or a viewer can you see the data.
