Select Realm Hardware Upgrades - 9/7 & 9/8

We will be performing hardware retrofits for the following realms as part of our long term realm performance improvement plans, and due to the requirements for implementing this new hardware we will be working through an extended maintenance schedule.

The maintenance for these realms is scheduled to begin at 12:01 AM PDT, Thursday September 7 and conclude at approximately 12:01 PM PDT, Friday September 8. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve realm performance and stability through our continued hardware upgrade plans.

That is good for people who work and are not logged on until about 7-8 at night.

Which I think counts for most of us!

I have 2 responses depending on whether or not this hardware actually fixes Mannoroth.

If it does, take what time is needed and get it done. I'd rather be without a couple of days and get a new and improved playable Mannoroth than continue with constant lag spikes and random disconnects.

If it doesn't fix us... dang you blizzard, why do you keep doing this to us... it's bad enough as it is that our server is already complete crud... now you take it down and get our hopes up only to give us back the same cruddy service we already had!!!

If it's the TBC Hardware upgrade and it brings manno up to the quality of server that outland is, you will love it.

That said, bladefist has already had that upgrade and still runs like a slug...

Just read a different update on this by Blizzard, seemed they just added the note that your friends list and ignore list will be wiped with this upgrade.

According to their replies, the previous downtimes were in preparation for the hardware upgrade, not an actual upgrade.... seems this misconception has happened on a lot of realms during maintenance preparation. Supposedly you can tell the actual upgrade happens when you lose your friends list and ignore list as these two items for some reason can't be preserved during the hardware transfer.

There is only one thing i can think of to do wile manno is down. FOR THE HORD!!!!!!!!!

Well that's wonderful that they are wiping all the lists, now let me see if I can remember them all and add them back on to each character.

(I'm sorry in order to upgrade this hospital's computer system, we must wipe all of your patient's and employee records, but this is for your own good in case we can make your systems run a tiny bit faster. I think I will take the 30 year old MIS lab ordering system that every freaking hospital seems to have, maybe for this very reason.)
