Fire Resist and You
Alright, I have been watching the boards for some time now and I have noticed that the officers have been killing themselves trying to get FR gear for the guild crafted.
Alright, the owness has to be switched back to the average member at some point as well.
I refer you to an awsome page that Skier made 2 years ago for Fire Resist World Drop Items.
http://www.stny.org/guides/fire-resist/
Please take a few minutes to go to this link and study up on items that you can aquire on your own. FR is KEY to the Veal fight in BWL, and you are going to need ALOT of FR gear to survive that fight. So, I am going to show you the levels to shoot your character for.
Priest - 200+ FR unbuffed
Mage - 200+ FR unbuffed
Druid - Tank - 275+ FR unbuffed
Druid - Healer - 200+ FR unbuffed
Paladin - 200 FR unbuffed
Rogue - 250+ FR Unbuffed ( trust me on this )
Warrior - Main Tank - 300+ FR unbuffed
Warrior - Arms/Fury - 250+ FR Unbuffed.
Now, alot of this is NOT going to happen without some craftables, but it will take a rather large effort from the guild to be able to obtain these numbers.
1) Farm MC AFTER the instance has been cleared - you just need to keep killing the mobs in there to collect cores AND BOE drops. Collecting the drops will allow the guild bank to resell AND buy more cores, Mooncloth, Dark Iron...etc.
2) Farm BRD - Guess what, Dark Iron makes the warriors and paladins very happy...and the people shooting for the faction since you need a stupid ammount to get the DI faction pattrens to make your craftables.
3) Contribute Money, Items....etc. to the guild bank - enough said on that.
4) Farm whatever FR gear you can from the list for your class. Sorry, you should show the guild leadership that you are really interested in completing BWL, and getting your FR gear together never hurts.
Anyways, I know it sounds like I am lecturing you on what to do, but I really do want to see SSX reach the hights that STNY did. Unfortunatly, this is what it is going to take to get there. Keep up the hard work, you are all really close, now you just need to make that next rather nasty step to start the climb up.
Good luck, and if there is any questions that you might have about the gear, you can ask me at any time that I am on.
Good Luck,
Shawn, aka Ismona/Aragoth/Oliet

Thanks for the post and information. Yes, each person will have to do their part, and let me clarify something here. The officers are busting their butts to coordinate crafting the epic FR pieces only for those that have already worked to get theirs up on their own right now.
The Ony Coaks did not require a min Fire Res because they're much easier to farm and craft. The other TB Rep epic FR will go along similar lines for crafting with two small exceptions. There is a class order being used, Warrior, Rogue, Warlock, Priest, Mage, Druid, Paladin, Hunter if memory serves me correct. From those, we are selecting 1 person from each class per round and crafting them 1 item. This will start on round 1 with the highest attendance person in that class, they will then be checked for min fire res on their own before receiving the first item. If they have it, it's theirs. If not, we go to the next attendance in their class and check their FR. If nobody in that class has it, we will move to the next class and check their class again on the next rotation. For the first phase we will only be looking at those with 15 or more attendance until we get the core group ready.
The minimum resistance for this is:
Warrior, Rogue : 150 FR
All Others: 100 FR
These may seem like a lot to someone just starting, but they are very very easy to obtain.
On a side note... the guild can only provide what is collected for it. If there are small materials needed, Aoiren, you are to stop trying to get them yourself and let the person your crafting for know what they need to get. All of the fiery cores, lava cores, and core leather will be provided from our MC Runs. We will also use the dark iron collected there, but that will not be enough Dark Iron to craft everything.
Look at the dark iron and other mats required for your armor. If you can not farm your own, see if there is someone else that you can work a deal with where you farm theirs, they farm yours, etc.
That being said, please remember your guildies are not there for you to make money off of, we're here to help one another out. This is not the type of guild where farming items to sell to the bank or guildies flies very well. The AH is the place to make your riches. I don't think this would happen with the helpful family environment we have here, but one can never be too cautious.
Top two items I know will be needed are Dark Iron and Mooncloth (Felcloth). I list the cloth because it is something anybody can help out with. Dark Iron is easiest obtained by a solo rogue stealthing through BRD. Takes a little getting used to but very easy once you do.
There are many other things out there. I know the officers have been working to get as much as we can but to do it on our own we'd have to farm enough for over 10 people each. That's just not going to happen in this lifetime.
Get a group of classmates out with you if you need, collect together and split the needed materials at the end of the night. We're not asking everybody to work for others here, if you can help someone out that's great, if not, at least be prepared to provide your own.
Aoiren, before even thinking you're going to be able to collect this stuff like you did for the ony cloaks, do me a favor and visit the STNY website... look at the total numbers of items needed they had figured there... they're pretty accurate for gearing a typical 40-man raid but ours would be higher because we have more people raiding being a casual group.

The pally and druid (druid is a little better than the pally one) lists are shameful, there's so much better stuff out there - if pallys wanna 'tank' -> Dark Iron, but how often do we tank?
The rest of the gear listed is inferior and almost none of it has healing relevant stats on it.
The druid stuff has one or two pieces of healing gear but most of it is designed for rogues.
The clothies stuff is 'ok' but fire striders? Skullsmoke would be unlikely to be found for people too since it's a fairly uncommon drop from a boss that PUGs and even most preformed groups never kill (unless they're rep farming giggle).
the hunter one is ok 'cept sunblaze coif...
Black Dragonscale > The Armoursmith stuff because it adds stats, and keeping damage, damage mit, and healing/stamina stats up for vael is just as important as FR.
We dropped almost all our FR reqs for vael after we killed him a couple times because we wanted to encourage some better DPS, had people drop to 150 FR (Quality gear) ish and pump out damage for him.
Plate peoples stay away from the fiery gauntlet things if you possibly can there's much better out there.
The table at the bottom (resistances) is on the wow website and very informative, if you wish to just add +5 on all the resistances and +3 to the level and you'll have the numbers you should be looking at for vael, use your initiative, think.
I'll try find a list of better items at some point. -.-

Point taken Mel. I was slighty taxed last crafting cycle and not looking forward to farming the mats for the next.
If you are a clothy, Flarecore Mantles are the first item being made for you.
Aside from the cores, each mantle requires:
60 Runecloth, 6 Enchanted Leather (or 6 lesser eternal + 6 rugged leather) and 2 Rune Thread
On a side note, I can craft all of the other cloth fire resist pieces except for the leggings. The only thing I ask is that you obtain the mats. Guild cores would not be available for those pieces as of yet and we are still going in turn for the rest of the fire resist pieces.
The next items to be made are for the paladin class and the hunter class.
These are also the pieces that a final decision has to be made on before we can continue.
The difficulty in chosing the first piece for each class is to pick the lesser of evils because all of the crafted items requires you to give up something. We have been trying to pick pieces that maximize the fire resist for each class so that it would be possible to save other areas for quality gear. It is not easy to be sure and everyone has their opinions.

PS - Paladins and Druids very likely will be getting mostly the same items as priests as far as crafting goes. There is very little else that has stats good for healing, which is what they'll be doing in fights where FR is king...
Its also as some have found helpful to look at cloth and leather for the blue FR drops while farming on your own too guys.... likely take a look at the priest section and compare the stats there.
All players of the same class will be getting the same items though. Which items are looked at and discussed prior to distributing the first pieces, and there are reasons for choosing the ones we do.
QD - If you'd like to make suggestions on paladin/druid items for crafting and/or hunting and gathering, please feel free to do so... those seem to be the ones that are the most off from this list.
As for hunters, I can see reasons for going with a few fiery pieces over all dragonscale... yes dc may add stats, but take shoulders for example... 9 FR on DC, 25 on fiery... that big of a difference could theoretically allow for another full out dps oriented piece... which would be more beneficial than the bit of stats lost off of the dc. I didn't see a DC belt or another craftable belt that compared with the fiery belt...

Ok looking at the guild craftable fire resistance pieces, I ran the numbers again and comparing set pieces and fire resist pieces.
For Paladins it is looking like the Flarecore Mantle
(This is a better than the Dark Iron Helm verses T1 and T2 helm for ability and stat mitigation) The next runner up would be the Dark Iron Bracers.
Note: Corehound Belt, although very nice for the great increase to healing it would be only 5 fire resist more than the T1 set. In addition, no one that I am aware of can make it in the guild.
For Hunters it is the Blackdragon Scale Boots followed by the Fiery Chain Gridle

Hunters are one of the few classes that should be really looking at their tier 1 belt, if absolutely superpimping certain pieces of armour with fr they should be looking toward +hit (to a degree) for their ungimped pieces.
Pallys wise, you're mainly gonna be looking at the clothies list, sadly, if you can get a corehound belt made by *anyone* god damn do it, goes for druids too, but seriously, that belt will not only be a resistance piece for you, you will use it until naxx(lol).
Druids wise I'll really have to look into when I get the chance, I still need to write up that outland vael guide too, since we do it completely differently from any guide I've ever seen, and any guild even on our server ('cept the ones that either copied us or changed to use our spot after getting it on farm).

You can get to +6 to hit easily between a small surival respect and Warmonger, but there really is no fight in BWL where +to hit is as critical as staying alive. There are fights though where you will only require your Ony Cloak and no other FR gear.QuantumDelta wrote:Hunters are one of the few classes that should be really looking at their tier 1 belt, if absolutely superpimping certain pieces of armour with fr they should be looking toward +hit (to a degree) for their ungimped pieces.
FR is only really important for Veal and then after that it is pretty much back in the bag. Since you get Burning Adrenaline in that fight....it doesn't matter if your mana bar is gimped, it gets filled every few seconds.

Yea, the thing for vael was that counting on aimshot rotas more than ever misses dropped you even further off the bottom of the dps list, that said, sadly hunters are the least important class in the fight -.-;
I guess they can consider it a break from RG lol
