Respec or not...
Hey everyone. Lately I've been toying with the idea of going Protection, but I still want to be able to grind solo or pvp alittle bit. Does anyone have any suggestions on builds that would fit this category?
I also feel like I'd contribute more on raids...also I just don't think the fury thing is working out for me.
Any input greatly appreciated!
P.S. Sorry about not visiting here like I should .... let the lashings begin.

If you throw everything you have into a full prot build say goodbye to solo grinding. You can also say goodbye to getting any enjoyment out of pvp..Xx
Throwing 15 points into protection is a pretty safe standard build that will benefit your pve raids and allow you some freedom outside of raid times.
I personally had a 5/31/15 build for almost all of the duration of the EU group's raiding time.
If you would like me to make a build for you, I'm more then happy to. Just lemme know

This is something like the new hybrid will be I imagine.... pay more attention to the points I put in prot than dmg since that's what I know best of course... If wanting to increase benefit in pve with minimal points there, that is where it's most effective...

This however is what I'm planning for those considering full prot (not recommended for anyone without an alt for farming and pvp):

Anyone with an alt that would like to go this route, I'd be happy to work out a rotation for MT so we can both get to play our alts some in pve too

Tweaked your hybrid one Mel (which was well configured, but I value last stand and improved intercept is pvp so it's personal flavour whether you get that or imp zerk rage, though imp zerk rage can be used to tank too xP)

Like I said, my hybrid one was mainly for them to see the more valuable protection talents in that. The other points I had in furry were just there for show... better for someone else to come up with that part.
Last stand wasn't in that one... only in my prot build... and it's had a good many uses in pve... saved my but long enough for someone to get a heal off many times...
Now I'm just trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my mage and rogue tomorrow...... Rogue will likely stay stealthy for farming dark iron easier... mage pvp oriented (not sure which tree yet)

Thanks Phil... yeah, it will work very well for tanking... but as a fair warning don't expect to be able to do much else with your war going that route... at least that's the way blizzard has always had it before...
It is kinda funny though as you get more geared to be in a pvp situation and watch stupid people target you out of the whole group and not be able to damage you... just kinda standing there while others kill them...
This is why though I'd say only make that change if you've got another class to play for everything else... you won't die easily but pvp will be extremely dull and it's got to be the slowest farming ever because you're made for taking damage and keeping aggro, not dealing damage... notice for those that do decide to keep track of damage, I'm almost always down by the healers in the damage meters... it's the design of the tank...
If damage dealing classes are ever below me on those charts, that's when something went wrong... usually they spent most of their time dead or were afk a lot....
Should be always below me in threat, and always way above me in damage.... unless you're a healer or another tank...
A good stats report would tell those comparison's to each individual and nothing else.... how far they were below the tank's aggro and how far above their damage they were. That's one of the reasons threat meter is much more valuable than damage meters. Goal is to push as hard as you can without going over your tanks in threat. Master this and we will steamroll through everything... each boss will surely have their own tricks, but this is the center core to every encounter no matter what pve encounter we're on.
If you find yourself having to tank, the core there is avoiding as much damage as possible, keep the mob in a safe spot (if they say breath fire or other such aoes), and always always always keep your threat above everyone else's in your group. It doesn't matter if all of your swings do zero damage if all of that is done when tanking.

going from ms to proc... i respecced about 5 or 6 times... each time more into proc and redefining the trees best suited for the way i tank.. suggestion is before jumping into proc ... find out what style is best suited for your tanking style... soemthing that other tanks deem useless can work extremely well for u... and experience is the key... the more u tank the more u learn
just my 2 1/2 cents

So far, I think I'm leaning towards something similiar to the hybrid spec Magdalena posted. The fury part of the tree is pretty similiar to what I have now already. I was thinking about taking a point out of toughness and taking last stand.
I suppose the only real test is to just try it and if I don't like it, respec again.... it's just gold.
