New Mage Spec Discussion

Post by Magdalena »

Hey guys, just out to get some thoughts and ideas running for the expansion... my main focus with my mage is pvp but her gear isn't too great... have been using full arcane with a little fire (pyroblast) but thinking to switch because the only arcane spell I've found myself using is popping and arcane missles, both of which aren't used much because of how quickly they eat up my mana and don't manage to kill people before that happens...

Thinking to switch to mostly fire build because those are the spells I end up using more....

wanted to get opinions on this build... but more than just "I'd do this instead" I wanna know why you'd pick differently...

I'm sure others have similar questions before changing things up tomorrow...

If I was going to use fire in that way, I'd probably be looking at this:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 0000000000

Main damage spell:
Fireball.
Main utility spell: Rank 1 frostbolt.

Pyroblast as opener on mezed/stunned/debilitated/distracted opponent.

Oh *(^% button: Dragons Breath.
Blazing speed and blastwave are there to improve survivability mainly though blastwave can also be used to chain damage.
Also Rank 1 Frostnova is all you need to use.

That's if I were going for that methodology of fire, anyway.
My probable PvP build with my own mage will be:

The Elemental with the right micro is just so insanely overpowered.

And a spec I've been turning over in my head for 70.

Hmm.... Well.... I have been thinking about the mage tree as well.... and As for damage (which is what i LOVE to do XD) I, personally, would go with this.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 00000#none

But that is just me personally.... ><

And here is a frost build:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 00000#none

And an arcane build with fire:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 00000#none

And one with Arcane and frost:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 00000#none

Most of these are builds for both pvp and pve..... which I try and do..... and if you don't like em that is ok. If you can manipulate them into something better then tell me! I want to see! For my mage that is.... haha

My other option is sticking around where I'm at now... I do like opening with sheep/fireball/presence of mind/pyroblast...

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 0000000000

with better equipment that would be deadly to most....

Figuring the water elemental is going to be majorly toned down very quickly... any time a class is given something that overpowered it is almost always done away with with maximum speed...

Other than that, frost didn't seem to fare too well in pvp except for AV... seem to remember weili and i holding the line for quite some time back when I had improved blizzard.... hehe

Arena style matches are more likely to be more affected by fast quick and hard strikes though if at all like other game's arena pvp.

My mage seems to be the toughest to spec because since I rarely use for pve all options are open...
