It's time to address the issue

Post by Zepol »

I really didnt want to type it out since my spelling isn’t the best, and also I am not an officer, but seeing that there is no real guild meeting I feel like this can not continue it is making the guild unhealthy.

Jer, Liz, Jack, and Mel are all going through tuff times. But that doesn’t mean that the WHOLE guild has to go on standby, I mean ever since BC came out Ive notice almost the whole guild has turned cold with one another.

This depresses me because ever since Tribes2 died I have felt doing the thing I love the most has gotten boring, that’s because I enjoy playing with others and not just my self, Ive played multiple games, UT2000/2001/2002/2003, Doom1/2/3, Fear, CS/Cs:S, BF1942/BF2/BF2142, Command and Conquer, and much much more, but then for the first time I joined a MMO, Wow, I remember I logged on and I had a option of classes so I picked one that I thought would be my fit, in Tribes2 I played HO(Heavy Offence) I provided cover for my team and try to stop anybody from creating an assault to our base which Jack would be defending, I would cover him and Matt(Madman) If I had to kill my self in order for them to succefully cap a flag I would do it.

No I didnt gain any exp, gold, or Items with this game, but I did it cause I felt that my team needed it in order to succeed, So I picked a NE Warrior thinking he could provide the same, I was wrong, the only thing I could do is remove the agro and try to hold it, problem with that was unless I had a healer with me I would be useless, right when I was about to give up with the game blam my brother introduced me to Liz, she then helped me every time I logged on so the game got more in-depth I didnt know what a guild was at the time but then I was invited into SSX which they just started to gain some people, I was then promoted to officer and even though I didnt know what that meant I still helped out anybody that needed it, everybody was so friendly in the guild it kinda reminded me of tribes 2 so I phoned Jack and told him to get wow...it took a whole month till he finally cave in.

So then I did anything for the guild, gold was not a issue with me so I gave it to whoever asked it, I even remember that Steve lent me 50gold so I can buy my first mount, but days later I had to quit the game do to personal issues, when those issues were resolved I started another game CoH I hated that stupid game it was so repetitive it made my eyes bleed every time I saw another quest. But then my good friends Julio(Demo), and John(Ilithron) wanted to go to WoW I said not a prob.

They asked me what server do we join I thought about coming back to Mannorroth but it pained me that knowing I use to play there with TerraBoy…he had passed away a couple of months back, and also I didnt know how Mel and Jack felt about me since I thought for some reason they were angered at me, So I decided to go to Akama, we started our own guild and I will tell you the truth all of the morals of that guild was copied from this guild.

But something wrong happened people started to stop talking to one another, I saw people rather go on pub groups instead of the guild group, people weren’t talking unless me, Julio or John were on and I new this cause I made a warlock to stealth as a member in the guild to see how people would react when non of us would be there.

Then I realized that there was no heart in the guild it was somehow lost, people were more concerned about earring gold and items that they did not want to join a guild run because they would simply have to do a nice thing towards the other guildies....give up the chance of possibly winning some loot that they would not need, so instead of giving it to the guild bank they gave it to AH so they could win an extra gold or two. So eventually I got tired of being the only one helping out so I quit the guild which a couple of weeks later it disbanded.

Then one night I had a terrible dream, Jack had gotten into a terrible car accident days later he had passed away, and all I could think of is that we never got a chance to fix things. So with out hesitating I went to my Acct on the wow site and transferred.

I didnt want to reveal my identity cause I wasn’t sure that Jer, Liz, Jack and Mel had gone and quit but to my luck everybody was still there, and not to mention that the guild was still the same everybody would help me out if I said a horde is attacking me, I would get whispers from guildies "invite me ill takem off your back", I even gave weilli back her 50 gold that she and Steve had lent me, and everything was fine.

My flame for Wow had reignited just like how I hoped it would, I even saw Jack leading the raids....this was no shock to me since he was the Clan Leader for NNS in Tribes 2, he would always be the one running the scrimmages.

But then BC came out. And like I said a couple of people are going threw some issues now but that doesn’t mean that everybody has to turned cold with one another, sure Im not close to a couple of people in the guild but that doesn’t mean that I cant get to know you or vise versa, and people needing certain classes for instances im sorry but that’s bull$#$%# Ive run multiple runs of scholo when I was 60 with people 52 or lower with no tank and no priest and still did it successfully, its not about completing the instance anyways its about having fun, if you need gold for the repairs ask me I don’t need a super flying mount urgently ill gettem eventually there is no race to 70 and no race for who gets the best drops, why don’t we do it as a group do it together so instead of having first player in the guild all epiced out, we can have the first guild in Mannorroth all epiced out. AND DONT FORGET TO STOCK UP ON THE BEER!

Common people this guild isn’t dead yet we just need more nekid chix and free beer to spice things up!

I agree with you. Well, I think your main point anyway. People don't seem to want to talk anymore; at least not in guild chat. :( Many is the time I've tried to strike up conversations in guild chat (I admit to not being that good at this and also to seeming more curt than I mean to be). I do think that there's a connection to the officers' problems though. In every guild (or linkshell in FF11) when the main leader or some or the officers have had personal troubles or disappeared for lengthy periods, the guild took on a different persona, all the people who came from Knights of Adun know what I mean here. It's sad, but it happens.

On a side note Zepol, I think you should break up your mega paragraph into smaller paragraphs. I kept losing my place in it.

To everyone who reads this topic, please do what you can to make the guild a bit livelier. :) A little effort can go a long way to making things asthey were pre-BC. ;D

I have to say I have seen some of what you mentioned. Though I would like to also offer up that we have grouped up many many times since BC came out. Back on topic though. I also agree that many people seem to have gone off on thier own or in thier groups and have not emerged much to help others since the beginging of BC. On the same note I can understand wanting to go and play as much as possiable to reach your own goals you have set for yourself, after all this is a game and who dosnt want to do the things they have set for themselves first. I have seen a change though in the last week as people reach thier goals, they are reaching out more and more just like we have always done. I belive as things go along SSX will re-emerge the same as we have always. A guild that helps who ever needs it and takes care of its members like family.

PS I suck at spelling also and had to read this over a few times... ;)

Apologies in advance, Zepol. I added a few paragraph breaks to your post so the other members might more easily read it and figure out what you're trying to say. Otherwise I didn't change anything.

White space is good ^,^ Hope you don't mind.

[WoW] This type of games should be up dated as soon as possible. Because there are many people that ere very found of such games. As these are very help full for make the brain power full and strong. So, mentaly strongness is the need of this presant era.

I agree to some of the main points. I've seen much of the same. I figure it's just people working on seeing as much new stuff as they can. As more of us get to 70 I'm starting to see SSX groups coming back together and people helping out levelling characters more. Vent is starting to pick up more too and it's good to see we are still getting new people.

I think the biggest problem is there are no larger instances for leveling to 70 and in a game that was formerly geared to 20 person and 40 person raids at the high end, this really sucks. The gear in BC makes MC gear pretty but obsolete and ZG will become something to do because its there. That's a real shame though because I like those instances. We need to do Ony only because I ran Jailbreak too many times for Steph to get attuned...lol...and she will do it. :smack:

LOL, anyway that's all I have to say. C ya in game.

Here's how I see it.

Post by Lilleth »

TBC is a new, neat toy. Everyone seems to be trying out their neat, new toy, finding out what it's all about, finding their groove, so to speak. Sometimes that means just going off on our own and doing our thing, sometimes that means finding a fun group of guildies and goofing off while finishing some content ;D

I can only speak for myself, but everyone has their own style of play and comfort level. Personally, I like to finish all my quests in one zone before moving on to another...and if I find some guildies to make it go quicker (or at least have a blast so it seems quicker...lol), fabulous! If not, I'll muddle along on my own, no problem. I like questing...and I'm kinda anal about finishing them all in "order" (top to bottom in the quest log...I said I was anal... :D ).

Instances are fun...I really don't like pugs (mostly because I like to talk/be talked through new dungeon content, so I know exactly what is expected of me in any fight...and that's easier on vent. I don't like making "mistakes" and killing people...LOL).

Others may enjoy the "race" (all in fun!). They like cool gear (hey, I like cool gear too!), they like being the first to learn new content...and their experience helps those of us who prefer to take our time when we finally get to those cool, new instances and raids.

It takes all kinds of playing styles to make a dynamic, energetic guild that's fun to be a part of. I think we've got a great mix with SSX, and there's no place I'd rather be :D

First, I would like to thank Al for posting his thoughts here and offering up your support to help out with others.
I know you have had some concerns about the guild stirring for a while and I have been quite curious in what they were.

Next, I would also like to mention that if any one feels we should being doing more as a guild in general, plz post your contributing ideas on what we could be doing and what you believe we are not doing.
With that said, don't be afraid to take charge and host an event.

Don't forget that people outside the group might view it as well, as they often do.

GL it's a pity I can't help you ingame with this.
It'll be the vacuum that 40mans left as much as 'standby' syndrome, perhaps some hack'n'slash runs at gruul's lair? (requires no attune, 25man raid) some firework/rp/race/treasure hunts/riddles rp events etc :P

Some suggestions from me :P

Guild Treasure Hunt - Money is not the issue here. Just have one person go into guild chat and give a semi detailed Hint to where he is. The guild then has X ammount of time to find him/her. Winner gets a decent peice of loot for thier toon that they were one ( craftable ) or some cash.

Naked Gnome Race - Always a classic !

Group for Attunments - I ave heard that the attunments for the next level of instances are a pain in the ass. Group up and get r dun.

Mainly though, just have fun and do it as a group.

Oh, you can also hit STNY up from some peeps. They have a bunch attuned now.

Interesting topic, almost prescient if you ask me. Ironically, at the time I'm finally prepared to respond we *are* actually losing people. That's a whole different ballgame though.

I don't feel the guild as a whole is falling apart. I agree with what others have said; we all play at our own pace, in our own order, and gosh, we've all got lots of new stuff to play with. Alan, I'm not purposefully singling you out, but in effect this is a reply to your first post. Please don't feel I'm attacking you. What I think's gone on is people joining, or reuniting, with the guild at a strange time in our history. The months before TBC came out a lot of us were really bored with the game and were just doing the "ho-hum" grind (PVE or PVP) in larger groups or running instances just for things to do.

Yes, we're still SSX, but we're a different group now than we were from the point when the people who needed to take a break left. We're larger and have a more diverse group of players with a more diverse focus on parts of the game. That in effect has caused the whole group to be more of a comglomeration of smaller groups under the umbrella of SSX than a smaller, more like-focused, guild that SSX was a year or more ago. Size doesn't help either, especially in guild chat. It becomes easier to just talk in party chat for the simple need of organization and not having a bajillion trains of thought getting mixed up all the time.

Now that BC is out we're all excited about the new content and stuff and have broken off into the groups we feel most comfortable playing with because those peoples' play style are similar to our own. One of the big issues we've been facing up to this point is a massive range of character levels. Finding a level appropriate group for instances has been tricky until recently because we're so spread out level-wise.

I like Steph's analogy of New Toy Syndrome. I think she's exactly right and can see the trend already plateauing. As we all get tired of doing things we're starting to look again to what we really play this game for, eachother, to get back to what we love about the game.

On the topic of guild leadership failing to organize things etc. That's not what the officers are about or there for. It's up to each member to get things going if he/she wants to do a group activity. If you have ideas that need some planning or organization ahead of time, post them on the forums. If you (meaning anyone in the guild) want a group for something, advertise in guild chat. Just don't be hurt if nobody wants to stop what their doing to run something else.

Another thing, the expansion's only been out for a month. It's been a little bit of a shake up, but we'll settle back down into our old routines again soon, have no fear.

Regards,
Phil
