Since more and more of us are becoming lvl 70, I think it would be good to start having a weekend raid again. The first raid is Karazhan. Unfortunately it's only a 10 man, but that doesn't mean you cannot start preparing now.
Quest 1 and 2:
Outside Karazhan (deadwind pass in the far south) there are two quests that are easily soloable.
Quest 3:
Sends you to Dalarian in Hillsbrad. The NPC you have to talk to is on the far north of the bubble.
Quest 4:
Sends you to Shatrath to talk to the guy in the temple of light. He then sends you on the annoying part of the quest chain.
Quest 5:
You must go and retrieve a key from a container in Shadow Labs. The container is right behind Murmur, the final boss.
Quest 6:
This part allows you to get two keys at once. One is in the steamvaults, in the water, just to the right of the first boss. The third key is in Alcatraz in the corner of the room just after the first boss. Note - You can only get in alcatraz if one person in the group has the key or a rogue with 350 lockpicking.
Quest 7:
The final key is obtained from Mediv himself in the Black Morasee event in Caverns of Time. This is probably the most difficult as the instance itself is very very tough.
Thats it! your attuned. Karazhan itself is a blast but be forewarned, very difficult. Much harder than MC, ZG, or even AQ20. Two of the 11 bosses drop the tokens needed for Tier 4.
The dream team? Well geared individuals with your level 70 dungeon set. The instance also calls for the following:
2 hunters
At least 1 priest but more is very helpful
1 Druid
1 Warrior (two can be used or the druid if feral can fill the offtank role)
1 Rogue
1 Mage
1 Lock
1 Pally
Note, the numbers can switch around a little bit but everything in the instance is undead which means shackle is needed. You need two tanks and at least 3 healers.
Feel free to contact me or post here if you have questions. It'll be fun guys, but it will be rough too.

Throw the hunters out for two priests, throw the warrior out for another mage, and that actually looks like a good kara group :P
ATM I've found no use for hunters up to Prince :\r
Priests are extremely useful in the instance PoH/Shackle/Stacking Renews.
Our typical high quality raid has been;
Feral Druid (MT/OT - swaps depending on boss/mob)
Prot Pally ("")
Holy Pally (Until we were geared enough that he could respec for Imp Sanct Aura)
2x Prayer of Mending Priests (These are THE best healers in the game by such an insane margin anyone else is insignificant atm, especially for 5-10 mans).
3x Arcane/Fire mages.
1 Combat Swords Rogue (kicks/stuns/dmg/etc - you may need two rogues and or a warrior if you get the romeo and juliett opera event).
1 "Misc". (MS Warrior/Another rogue/Feral druid if you're desperate or another healer).
Great instance, quite fun, shame the loot is kinda 'bleh' apart from healer drops (which we've been starved of in the past) we 'almost diss' most of our stuff and it's taken as slight/side upgrades... :/
Advice though;
If you're struggling to do this instance, go do more 5mans and get the gear from them, after I got my paladin some warrior tanking gear stats wise - we did absolutely fine, but considering the AoE trash a Pally tank is so recommendable, and druids mit higher damage so you will want one of those if you can over a warrior.
Side note!
Your pallys are going to have to be good at multi-tasking.
They're going to need to know that if they start healing whilst they're being hit by raid trash (tanking) they're GOING to die.
A Pally that's tanking a mob cannot afford to cast anything (that's why almost all of our tanking spells are instant cast).
Pallys that aren't well geared enough to be an MT make better OTs than warriors as well since they can shift to heal.
AND, just as before, don't automatically assume the Tier 3 Dungeon Sets are "the best you can get" don't put effort into collecting them unless you NEED them for stats/set bonuses.
Pallys - Righteous is good, but beyond Set bonus 2 isn't worth gimping yourself from the 70 stamina 30 defence warrior jazz out there - you need that a lot more.
Don't over emphasize spelldamage, 300 is more than you will ever need, 200 is about optimum.
Aim for 480-500 Defence and 11k unbuffed HP (with talents).
Don't emphasize your block rating too much, I maintain 42% block (12% base) almost 24/7 whilst tanking (Holy Shield) which of course goes up to 72% block with Redoubt procs (but this is only on about 50% of the time), emphasize Parry/Dodge.
As long as your numbers (chance to be 'miss'/dodge/block/parry) adds up to over 100% you're sitting pretty.
If you want to tank beside Mel know what you're doing know the MATH and SCIENCE behind tanking in this game otherwise you will be a liability, oh and, although threat isn't something pallys have to worry about much (since we put it out by the bucket load and it scales better than warrior threat) study up on the mechanics of threat too.
Anywaysssssss
Kara has a lot of trash and you all need to be aware of what that trash is doing and what it's going to be doing, keep looking around - don't let things sneak up on you, over pulls are always trouble, especially if they're not obvious overpulls.

You underestimate the power of the dark side.
A shadow priest in a group with a pally with some holy talents creates an impressive healing team. AoE heals via VE and mana back to the pally from those heals and VT. I rarely see a Main healing pally's mana go below 80% when I am offhealing unless I go oom or get stunned/killed.
I really am having difficulty switching back to a holy/disc spec at the moment.
However, back on topic. We as a guild should start doing more as group. I have noticed that since the expansion there has been a lack of a sense of direction. Perhaps that is not quite it but something has been missing that was there before.
As more and more people obtain the 70 level cap and finish with the quests in the zones in Outland the next step are the 10-man instances. Karazhan is a very good place to do this and from all accounts alot of fun.
That being said, if anyone needs help with the Karazhan attunement please post here or let me know in game. As is stated above, the first four steps in the chain are easy to do and just require some traveling.
You do have to be 70 to get the first couple of quests that starts the key chain.

Sadly, as is for retribution paladins shadow priests are not useful (particularly) in Karazhan, and you don't get full benefit out of them until you can dump them into a group with 4 paladins or something similar in a 25man :PAoiren wrote:You underestimate the power of the dark side.

Also if you do want to spec for raid pve shadow you need to take a very weird spec that you wouldn't want to really take into competitive pvp (Meditation/threat talents/healing focus/deep shadow).
MH Pallys have been really struggling to keep up for heroics/kara without spamming consumables every cooldown because HL is far too mana intensive and FoL is far too light on HPS, kinda shame there is no middle ground but needless to say a paladin without light's grace is useless (unless they're a tank).
- Divine Illumination makes for a good Crutch too.
ATM Druids are a bit weird since Tree form is a mixed blessing, and priests really do far and away top our healing done for once...
There is a flask out there that does 70 or 80 mana restore / 5 sec for two hours btw, it's not THAT expensive for herbs either so if you get onto the later stuff (Aran/etc) in Kara you might wanna look into it (This flask is learnt by making other things, I think o_O).
Shadow is good as a DPS/Support but the place for it isn't really Kara, unless you're talking about replacing a warlock/mage/etc, which also isn't optimal since Warlocks have a lot of functionality in later fights (banish/enslave/fear) and mages have AoE which really can be a must on some trash.
It's not that it doesn't work, it's just that it's not effective to do in this ten man.
Same problem as with hunters and retri pallys, really no use for them here (save maybe aran/tere and subsequent bosses).
but honestly, with the value of gold atm respeccing on the fly isn't that bad anymore :P

Well I do have that weird spec except for the healing focus=). But I still would like to see how it would go in Karazhan, just because I really am enjoying healing via DPS.
I did not realize how much stress I was under while healing as holy/disc until I went shadow for the first time with the expac.
That is the main reason I think right now that I am hesitant to convert back over, plus the "pew pew" factor.

Don't get me wrong, warriors are not useless, we just have better geared and specced druid/paladin tanks atm which mean they completely outstrip the warriors - since threat is paladins kingdom and hp and raw-mitigation is the druids.Jophiel wrote:But but, I'm a warrior!!
We are good for something right?!
No I know, warrior class has got some problems and I do hope they get fixed soon. In the meantime I've tanked the first 4 bosses in Kara and it wasn't THAT bad
There are still fights where warriors are CLEARLY superior and those are mostly fights like Black Morass 2nd boss with the Stacking Debuffs, since warriors have the highest avoidance ATM.
At Kara gear level warriors seem to be just a tiny bit ahead of paladins on mitigation too, but the higher the gear level goes the 1% benefit paladins get over warriors in sta starts to kick in, not a lot but shade of aran will show you the difference between 'not a lot' and nothing, for those who didn't get into the later 40mans, who will know that 'little bit' over the threshhold is win or lose.
But warriors bring a lot of useful jazz to the table, with spell reflect, the best spell mitigation, solid physical mitigation and the best avoidance, they have the weakest single and multi-target agro (especially compared to paladins on undeads/demons) but they also bring commanding shout/battleshout/sunder armour (if there is no improved expose armour (superior))/Huge DPS/Mortal Strike/Pummel/Shieldbash and potential group flexibility for tanks :P
Same as Paladins should not neglect their healing skills, warriors really need to work out what's most effective for the group.
Oh and, I still haven't seen anything superior to Thunderfury, so it is worth finishing Mels ;P

mending
http://www.thottbot.com/beta?sp=33076Prayer of Mending
its great spell. ive been trying it out on the lower lvl instances like slave pens
unlike the lightwell spell which can be cancel if you take damage
prayer of mending has no threat to it which is cool
it has a 30 second countdown so it can be ised quite frequently if need
and also low mana use
