HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Pally PvP

Post by Ash »

Okay I need tips off all you Paladins,
as I increase my level I run more and more into
Horde who feel like trying their luck.

My record isn't too bad, if its one on one and
I'm not in the middle of a mob fight.
But I could do with some tips to turn me into
a PvP monster.

Currently my Pally is retribution spec.

Cheers

Ret is the PvP spec. You know what it's about. But if your problem revolves around multiple encounters, Ret isn't what you want. You want a multi-tree paladin or one of the other trees. Prot will be slower, but you can generally survive most like-level horde encounters while you're fighting. I recommend Prot over holy (even though I've heard good things about holy since the expansion) because Holy never did any good for me in PvP and any job that can interrupt casts will leave you a sitting duck when you try for a heal since all paladin abilities are holy magic. Prot is less reliant on cast timers and can frequently survive off of judging light and using wisdom seal in a pinch.

This is just my opinion.

The answer, with all things PvP.
Is gear > spec> luck > skill

in order of importance to average pvp, though significant amounts of bonus in any area can tip the balance in favour when you might lack in others.

Check out some PvP videos, those are all referenced to level 60 pvp but 70 isn't much different.

lowerlevels varies a lot depending on what talents and abilities that you have but lets put it this way..

Gear is definately most important and easiest to improve.

Monday night was a prime example of my prediciment,
one minute I totally destroyed an equal level warrior,
within 5 minutes a Mage 3 levels lower than me
attacks whilst I'm engaged with a mob and I die.

I think the Pally class misses a skill to slow the opposition down,
Pallies are not fast beasts and with no range attack
keeping up with bunny hopping Mages can be problematical.

If only Exorcism (sp?) actually worked on player characters.

Well smart mages can fireblast/icelance kite you forever and you'll never be able to do anything against them unless you're an engineer.

Edit;
A horde paladin jumped my mage on almost no mana (1/4 ish I think?) and 1/2 hp the other day.

He used all of his timers, and still died.
