Ganking and Horde: A Tale of Two Servers

Post by Bladesinger »

Hey folks,

I'm writing to let everyone know that I'm planning on starting an SSX-based group on a PVE server. My intention is not to split the guild, instead it's to provide a change of pace for those like me who are sick and tired of the endless ganking. I would like to extend the invitation to anyone here who wishes to start a new character or transfer existing characters to this server.

Who does this pertain to?

All of you

What will it be?

A group of both Horde and Alliance based on the ideals of the SSX on a PVE server. Recruiting will be held in check and done carefully to make sure new players fit the ideals of the group as it is and the SSX as a whole.
We will all be based here on the forums and share the same Vent server. My intention is that both groups will be an extention of the other and not separate guilds/groups.

When

Yet to be determined.

Where

The server has yet to be determined. I'm investigating both brand new and relatively young servers. If people are interested it may even be a Roleplaying server for those who wish to get involved in their characters that way as well.

Why

The big question. For me there are two reasons. First and foremost, I'm sick and tired of the ganking. I hate questing now for fear that the Horde standing over there is going to wait until I'm a low health and fighting something then come kill me and take whatever it is I'm collecting or questing for. I'm sick to death of hearing my guildmates go through the same thing day in and day out, often multiple times per day.

The one and only reason I'm on a PVP server to begin with is that it's where SSX decided to be way back when. I've heard a number of people comment numerous times that if they/we'd known what a PVP server was like they/we'd never have rolled on it. It's my intention to give us all the choice of where we want to play with our friends.

The second reason is I like Horde. Call it blasphemy, but I do. :) Being on a PVE server will allow me to have both Alliance and Horde characters on the same server so I can play either with my friends. The possibility of battlegrounds composed entirely of SSX of both factions is really appealing to me.

Lastly, many of us have toons scattered far and wide on various PVE servers. I want to give everyone the chance to consolidate ourselves into a single group as SSX rather than a million separate characters all over the place.

Logistics and such

Post by Bladesinger »

How will this multi-"guild" group be managed?

Any current officers who take part in this will automatically be made officers on this new server. Furthermore, new officers drawn from existing and future members for each faction will be elected based on participation, dedication to the group, and the SSX ideals.

What about all of my toons on Mannoroth and Dalvengyr? It is possible to transfer from PVP to PVE, but once the change is made it is not possible to go back to a PVP server.

I'm not suggesting that we abandon either server wholesale. Not only will that be costly in real life but we all have friends and associations built over a long time on Mannoroth. For myself, I'm going to keep Averegor on Mannoroth to support our future endeavors there. Any participation is purely voluntary and the choice of starting anew or transferring is up to the player.

Warning, warning, Danger Will Robinson, Danger!

To recap what I've said in these posts:

In the near future I will be starting an SSX-based group on a PVE server for people who wish to play both Horde and Alliance in an environment where they don't have to worry about getting ganked. Current members who wish to transfer existing characters from other servers, or start a fresh new one on this server, are welcome. Most importantly, this is not a wholly separate group and is not intended to split the current Mannoroth SSX group. It is meant to expand or guild offerings to current and future members who wish to play with SSX friends on a PVE server.

Let's have some quality discussion of options and thoughts. Leave the flames at the door please.

A decent idea, but I love my PvP....too much old school MMOs I guess, but I love getting jumped and putting the smack down on the jumper :<

After much searching of the census info and reading realm forum chat it appears Kirin Tor is the best bet. It appears to have the best balance of both Alliance:Horde (many have 2-4:1) and classes.

This is a Roleplaying server so there are naming conventions in place. RP will not be required behavior, but I enjoy it and want to give other members the opportunity to RP with others as much or as little as they want, if they so choose.

Guild Charters will be sought when there are enough people and/or funds to do so.

Possible names I've thought of are below. If you have ideas please post them for discussion. Those two are about the maximum numbers of characters and spaces allowed for a guild name.

Alliance: Shattered Star Alliance
Horde: Shattered Star Legion

I left out Exiles because both factions will be Exiles in all but name. I want to avoid favoritism and/or thoughts that one faction is the "true" SSX. Also, Mannoroth and Dalvengyr both have Shattered Star eXiles guilds on them. I think it would be best to leave those unique amongst the factions.

Well, I just got back into Wow. I've got characters to level on 4 different servers, (Garona, Gorggonash, Mannoroth & Shandris) so
I may be a while. But sure, I guess I could roll up a troll warrior and say hi.
bah my forums is dead, so it is removed from my sig...

Btw, I'm making a game, it will be awesome, you will look forward to it.[/hype]

That's exactly the point of this server. It's to give us all a single place to go instead of being spread out on different alts all over creation when we want to get away from ganking.

I'd like to let you know that random world PVP is still possible on a PVE if you *want to do it*. All you have to do is flag yourself for PVP and it can, and WILL, happen. Case in point, I decided to go on an instance run after a couple rounds in the BGs. While waiting for the rest of my group I fell victim to a flagged Ally druid waiting for people to gank. Little did I know that I got PVP flagged by doing a BG.

If you don't want to PVP, don't, or wait 5 min in a friendly area after a BG and you're safe from ganking.

As far as economy goes it's about as stable as Mannoroth is these days with BC taken into account. That being said, I'm having no trouble finding good prices on things for my lowbies.

Phil
