New Sporty Ride Available - Limited Time

Post by Syro »

All you horse freaks need to go to the festival this week and win the horse race at the Bree festival grounds. The reward is killer imo.

Hopefully, this reward is an indicator of pony options to come!

Go to the Bree Festival grounds (north of Bree), race 4 people, win, and play a few festival games. :thumb:

I have confirmed with GM +Nod at Turbine that players do not have to stand in "the line" and Turbine will not perform any grievance upon any player's account who does not wish to participate in "the line."

Please be sure not to harass the line-standing folks if you chose not to wait in it. You may be harassed and people may threaten to report you but please be polite, do the quest, win the race, and remove yourself from the situation. The GM's on our server are monitoring the line situation and are well aware of the issue, threats, and general chaos that "the line" is causing.

Personally, I am not for or against "the line." It's an individuals choice to stand in line or not.

I take it only limited people can do it at a time, and you have to wait 10 minutes between races?

What a silly silly way to do somethign like that. Why didn't there just make it an instance...

Actually...

Unlimited people can race at the same time but only 4 can get a horse. It's a race to the saddle then a race around the track. The players on our server have imposed a "line" to remove the race to the saddle portion of the quest.

I kicked Syro's brother from the kin; so he, as an individual, could make a polite protest against the harassment and threats coming from the folks who are trying to impose the line.

Syro's brother was very polite, civil, and wished all the racers luck. He won the race to the saddle, and he won the race around the track. He left as quietly as he arrived.

The line folks, on-the-other-hand, were verbally violent. If the players could have stoned the "line cutter," then they would have. It was very ugly and had a mob violence mentality.

My take...

First, it's a game peeps. Have fun! Play it the way you want to play it but be in compliance with the ToS and license agreement.

Second, we are a community. Let's respect others' styles of playing the game. If folks want to stand in line and eliminate the saddle portion of the race, then by all means do it. If folks want to race to the saddle as it is designed, then by all means do it.

Finally, if SSX folks want to stand in line, then I will support them. If SSX folks want to race to the saddle as the quest is designed, then I will support them as well.

Sounds like maybe Turbine didn't think this one through entirely :)

I do not know. :)

It's interesting for me to watch our server community's behaviour in relation to one quest and a single quest reward item. The excitement and passion surrounding it on both sides of "the line" is fascinating! :D
