Tanking and Aggro Information

Post by Magdalena »

Ok, I know I've been asked a couple times about tanking gear, etc, and I had to go out and look up a lot for myself to aim where I need to be to help the group out as a tank. So, I'm putting up some guides I've found to be extremely helpful. They're long reads but it's worth it.

Crushability - What Exactly does it mean to become "Uncrushable" and how different tanking classes achieve this. I've heard a lot about the 490 defense and using that as a guide, however while a good number to aim for it alone does not make you uncrushable at all, and being uncrushable is possible to achieve without it, though it's likely you'll get it anyway while aiming for uncrushable.

Tank Gear - Unfortunately not much help for druids as it's all plate, but great list of gear for warriors, and some i'm sure used by paladin tanks as well. Have a couple I don't really agree with... for example the badge reward shield is above the pvp shields imo, and I placed block enchant over stam as there's a lot of other areas to buff stam. It's still a great reference point though and gives a lot of good information.

Aggro generation - This has detailed information not only for tanks, but for other classes as to how some of their abilities are treated on the aggro chart.

Hope this helps :)

Just my little side note... the number 490 that people keep tossing around is for crit immune not crush immune. Also i find that i need two sets of tanking gear and i have asked warriors and find that it is also true for them. Not sure if this is the case for bears. One set of get purely to buff stam more or less for the 25 men raids where there's a lot more buffs going on. The other set is more or less for threat which for warriors i'm told is just crank up the block, for pallys block and spell dmg and an oomkin and a ret pally and a shadow priest and a shammy in the group doesn't hurt either.

Pocky Protection Pally 70

I didn't fall from grace, I dove.
