Wanted to see what everyone thought about starting to have meeting discussions held in an IRC channel here on the site. I think we've been moving in very positive directions, but I think some have been holding back thoughts etc largely due to holding this over voicecomm. It's great for everyday communication and discussion but is only going to get tougher the more people we get to hold actual meetings this way.
Through one on one conversations I've had, people have still had lots of things to discuss, however none seem ready to bring things up when it comes time to bring up thoughts in the meeting. Often if they do they're buried by too many talking at once on different subjects.
Likely a combination of vent and IRC would work best to make it easier for things that are long winded or difficult to type out... make it something like typing in you have something to say and going down the list to each person giving the floor one at a time... small comments on current speaker could be replied to in chat... probably keep 2 chat channels for this, one for asking for the floor, the other for the actual discussion.
This is just a thought I had, would like to try it this Saturday if we could, just to see if it works out any better for us. Any thoughts, comments, or objections? Trying to come up with a format that doesn't end up in just one person doing most of the talking and getting everyone more involved and sharing of their thoughts with more than just the closest people.

Great idea Mag
Would it be helpful to post a thread here each week of a list of things that people would like to bring up at the next meeting?
Not saying to discuss that topic, just posting a list of what you would like to see discussed at the next meeting. Wouldn't have to include everything, but it might help with organization and give people who are coming into the next meeting a pre-list of ideas and answers for already known and documented topics (maybe even cut down on the meeting times a little hehe).
Juat a thought

I like the idea Pad of making a list of topics people would like to discuss in the next meeting. Maybe a new thread every week so people do not get confused. As you said, there might be times, when everything on the list is not discussed but that does not mean those items could not be set as the priority for the next meeting.

Great idea Pad...
Here are some of the discussions I'd like us to approach tomorrow :
1) Re-evaluate some of our ranking. Some great ideas have been brought up about ranking and some restructuring of our current system. We touched on this a little last week at the end, but am hoping people had time to think more on this over the week. Some of these ideas have included:
Evaluating current officer overflow and limiting this position to currently active members willing to take on the responsibilities required.
Evaluating veteran status, possibility of making this a status of all members currently active both on forums and in game.
Identifying the main character of all alts in either guild or officer's notes.
Making member status for currently inactive accounts.
2) Advancement and progression strategies - looking for alternate routes to bring advancement back without growing our guild too quickly. How to assist our current players in getting to 60 and the possibility of looking for 2 other small guilds for a joint MC effort on Friday nights. Discussions on limitations and preservations for time for our non 60 players will have to be included in this.
3) Recruits - solidify our discussions on removal and re-entry requirements of people who apply and are not accepted. My thought at least from the original discussion was that we had decided that one negative removed them from the guild. To further add to this, I believe in general to be invited back for retrial they should have to get the person(s) that voted against them to all agree to invite them back. Do not think this should be brought to them by other members but the recruit themselves so they don't feel as pressured if they still have reservations about the person. This came up in our last meeting as well and without going into the specific person, we need to get a firm ground on what our standing is on this situation.
