I heard that someone (I think it was Mel) was switching from Weaponsmithing to Armorsmithing... Well from what I have seen from multiple sources, blizzard included, it's not possible on the same character, unless something changed with 1.11.

Way back when, it was discovered that changing from Gnomish engy to Gobo Engy was impossible on the same character, so I assumed the same was so for Armor and Weaponsmithing. So I did do some digging around, and the general consensus is that if you drop blacksmithing your still stuck with whatever path you decided.

I just wanted to give a heads up so no one wasted any time on anything..

Thanks for the heads up, this was in fact the case a while back but was changed in one of the patches. It takes unlearning your profession now, but it can be done. I have already changed from swordsmith to armorsmith.
