Crappy thing is, the only thing that survived my ship explosion was the most expensive module, the Improved Cloaking Device II. This at a time when i haven't hauled everything out of the PoS's and had around 2 mil of Heavy Water in hold moving it stations. The ship setup was 50 times more expensive than the cargo. Sad part is, i passed them on an earlier trip and figured since I had outrun all the other pirates in that area, why should they be any different.
